Kompany at the penalty with Navas

This may have been mentioned before on another thread...
Just watching the highlights of the game and noticed that when we were awarded the pen, Navas goes to the ref brandishing an invisible card - immediately Kompany and Ferd give him a right bollocking and send him away. Nicely managed by them both, but that's not something I want to see City players doing

Happens in the heat of the moment - not as bad as folk make out imo

It's far less of an issue than people make out for me. Makes you look a tit, but is not even close to diving yet gets similar scorn.

Yeah I noticed that. I don't think he'll be doing again in a hurry after the bollocking he got.
Kompany = true professional. Not many of them around these days

Not as bad as diving no, but something I don't want to see. I can understand appealing for a foul/penalty obviously but not appealing for another player to be carded for what wasn't a reckless challenge.
Chelsea are the masters of it surrounding the ref, trying to influence his decision.

Shows what a good captain (and man) Kompany is. Does the right thing, respected throughout the league.

even a couple of rags at work say what a great player/captain/professional he is. Funny because I can't say that about any of their cheating diving moaning fuckers

I think that was the main point I didn't make - that Kompany is a model professional and has his eye on every aspect of the game. Navas was naive and won't do it again, I'm sure. Just delighted to have a leader that has a sense of honour and sportsmanship

Think it's a lot to do with Navas coming from the Spanish league. In I think his first City game he did the dying swan act when someone put a firm tackle on him, but hasn't done it since. Think a word was had.

At the time I said wtf is Navas doing my Mrs said what do you mean I said waving an imaginary card at the ref.She said he is asking for a red card to which I replied well he wants a fucking telling off.She said why I just shook my head.Things like that fuck me right off and I for one am glad Vinny bollocked him.

Navas also dives, which I don't want to see. So do Silva and Aguero, although less so.

Silva was also badgering the ref, repeatedly saying it was a red card.

Right, so can we actually hear Kompany (being branded as a true professional, which he is, don't get me wrong) but what makes us assume that's what he said or wanted to say to Navas that he shouldn't do it as it's not professional? Why can't we assume (and more likely to have happened) that they (Komps and Ferdy) were simply telling him ... oi, don't get sent off yourself mate, we don't want to go down to ten ourselves (and frankly don't really care, and want the same as you, that the opposition do get carded) ...

I do it every time I go down on sunday league football. Heck, I wave the card while still in mid air after a tackle. It just makes me laugh.

I do think our good behaviour standards influence refs in our favour. But then Fergie and his ganging-up tactics used to terrify them and influence them as well.
It's all those buggers in the middle that lose out!

Aguero and Silva dive? Example please.
