Dzeko Jeered...By Bosnians!

Dzeko hits out at Bosnia coach

Manchester City striker Edin Dzeko has hit out Bosnia coach Safet Susic for making him play the full 90 minutes against Egypt despite being injured.

Dzeko went into Wednesday's friendly carrying a knock and he expected to be replaced at half-time during the clash in Innsbruck, which Egypt won 2-0.

However, Susic decided to keep Dzeko on the pitch for the full game and the forward was unhappy with the coach's decision.

"I came here with a niggling injury and Susic knew that, and he still didn't substitute me either at half-time, which was the plan, or after the break when I asked to be replaced," Dzeko said on his Facebook page.

"I don't know why he left me on the pitch for the full 90 minutes."

Dzeko also came under fire from some of the Bosnia fans after an indifferent display and the 27-year-old, who was Bosnia's top scorer in their successful World Cup campaign, says some of the supporters should be 'ashamed' of their behaviour.

"I wish to thank all fans who support me but the others should be ashamed because I am a born winner and always played my heart out for the national team," added Dzeko.

Susic also hit out at the fans for jeering Dzeko and blamed their defeat on missing several key players through injury.

"Dzeko didn't deserve so much criticism for a poor performance in a friendly, as anyone can have a bad day," noted Susic.

"Many players had a bad day but the fan reaction was unfair as we missed several key players through injury."

Tbf, the Count has mentioned several times that neither Dzeko nor Negredo have been fit, & that could well be the reason both have been a bit shiity. Ed was deffo limping when he came off the pitch Sunday.

But I think we can quote this whenever any lectures are handed out on how we don't get behind Dzeko enough. And this was a friendly game ffs. Disgraceful.

They should hang their heads in shame.

City fans may criticise Dzeko on the internet, but City fans don't jeer Dzeko during games.

He doesn't get jeered no. But there's often a collective, obvious groan reserved for when he mis-controls which isn't there when Negredo or any other player does.

He had a niggling injury so why the fuck did you join up for a meaningless friendly.

He's their top scorer - it's not like he's fighting for his World Cup place.

Other teams pull their players out of international duty - we need to toughen up and do the same!!

As far as I know, if you are called up, then their doctors decide whether you are fit or not.

they can force you to attend and be assessed by their own medical staff if they dont believe you are injured. However, when its a friendly I would have imagined they would be fine with it. They mention they had a lot of injuries and players missing, so why play an injured player. Dzeko should learn from this and withdraw if he isnt 100% fit in future.

I'm glad he wasn't pulled out because now he probably won't play against Wigan, so I would be happy with that because he is total shit.

There's a good reason for that. When others miscontrol it they'll do their best to rectify their error by fighting to win the ball back, particularly Negredo. Dzeko on the other hand usually reacts by sulking.

That's not strictly true is it?
I'm not sure why some fans are so determined to have a scapegoat. Are we all miserable fuckers and just need to have something to moan about?
Not so long ago he was scoring every game. He played very well in the FA cup v Chelsea and came off with an icepack around his foot. He gets an injury, has a couple of bad games and suddenly we're all on his back again.
FFS just support our players.
Recently both him and Negredo have been carrying knocks, both have been disinterested and both have been fluffing chances. Only one seems to attract criticism though.

Dzeko says; "I don't know why he left me on the pitch for the full 90 minutes."

Now he knows how we feel sometimes!

Chin up Edin

Yes more often than not it is true.

I don't scapegoat him or anyone so reserve that bollox for someone else.

No it isn't.
And where do we want Edin? Do we :
a.) Want him chasing back into our own half trying to win the ball back or:
b.) Waiting up the pitch ready for when we counter, getting himself into a good position.

He's scored 17 goals this season. The way some are overreacting makes it seems like he's scored about 2.
He won player of the month for January ffs.

I'll give you a clue- B.

What's this we business?

Granted some go over the top labelling him shit, which is clearly bollox but you have to understand people's frustrations when you see him showing little or no fight in a Wembley final or the fact that he's managed just three shots on target in our last six games.

Dont mean to seem like I'm getting at you mate, just a point in general.
Of course I do get frustrated with him but as I say he's been carrying an injury as has Negredo. Neither should be criticized but Dzeko is whilst Negredo gets a free ride.

Look at Negredo's performance v Barca, everything bounced off him and he missed a great chance with a header.
Look how he played against Stoke, that performance was the definition of disinterest. He barely touched the ball and showed no fight or desire at all.

I don't like criticizing him or any player really but why should Dzeko get a load of shit and not Negredo when they've both been bad the last couple of games?

Also as I said, In January, where we won nearly every game and scored many goals, Dzeko was voted our player of the month for perhaps our best month of the season so far.

Then he has a couple of bad games and gets a huge over reaction to it.

Your point is not without any merit, but a quick scan of the board will find a thread stating Negrado is off the boil as well. He may not get the same level of stick, but he's also not had the same amount of stinkers yet either.

You're right, there was. Although people were far more willing to find excuses for his drop in form, 'he's injured, he's not used to the lack of a winter break, he misses Aguero' etc.
The reality is they were both carrying knocks and both played badly. Neither one should be singled out for criticism whilst the other escapes it.

I actually don't think there's a huge amount of difference between the two. Negredo's season reminds me of Dzeko's first full season. Remember when he started on fire, gave an absolute masterclass against Spurs, as good as any performance by any striker Ive seen, scored a lot of goals and then tailed off from the New Year onwards, similar to Negredo now.
I used to really think Dzeko was shite but then realised, he does what he's paid for, score goals.
When he mis controls and then hears a collective groan which no other player seems to get it can't be good for his confidence, especially for a confidence player like him.

Both are talented players, neither are absolutely word class but they both can, have and will play a huge part in our success.
I do agree Dzeko needs to work harder but having a team full of headless chickens who regularly chase after the ball is not always best, otherwise it gets a bit playgroundy where everyone is chasing the man on the ball. We don't want him running back into midfield to win the ball back, we want him to stick up front for when we break.

We have a squad full of talented players, some look better than others but they've all helped and all contributed to what could and probably will be our best season ever. The football's been brilliant, countless goals, great excitement and already a cup. Why can't we be happy with that rather than slag off our own players?

The game was played in Innsbruck. Most of the people who will have gone to watch are diaspora, displaced during and after the war. A large proportion of these people will have gone for a day out because it's 'something Bosnian', rather than because they are avid supporters of the national team (as shown by the half-time entertainment of traditional Bosnian dance, which would never have happened had the game been played here). Having said that, the performance was lacklustre at best, with a couple of exceptions.

For me it all boils down to attitude. There isn't one player who has not had a bad day at the office, sometimes several. What we want from our team is a belief that they are trying, even if they are having a mare of a game. Sadly, Edin, lets poor day in the office migrate into his body language and that is what we find hard to stomach.

Oh FFS. He has been rubbish for nearly all of the last 2 seasons running. A brief "purple patch" in January merely papered over the cracks. Remember the dozen or so missed chances against west ham until he finally fucking got one right? His attitude is fucking shite whether he starts or comes off the bench. You can criticize negredo all you like BRF, but at least he gives the appearance of giving a shit about this club. When dzeko fucks off the summer, I am not at all convinced he'll become the legend BRF and others seem to think he will...I think he'll carry on in the same fucking hot and cold primadona bullshit for the rest of his career.
