Midweek CL Games

Mixed feelings about both tonight's and tomorrow night's games ...
On one hand I want Mancini to get through and dump Chelsea out in the process (Typical City, well and alive, we sack him for not getting out of the group and he goes and takes a Turkish side from an even tougher group out, and now possibly could go even further) ... on the other hand I want Chelsea to win so they have more games to worry about during the title run-in ...
Same for tomorrow, I want Olympiakos to thrash them, but would that mean end of Moyes? And a new manager (or temporary Fergie) back for the derby ... so ideally yeah why don't they win 1-0 so they win on the night, Moyes is not thrashed right out the stadium, and they still don't qualify ...
Other games should see Real Madrid cruise past Shalke and Dortmund past Zenit ...

It would be great to see Mancini triumph but I have to put City first. Chelsea win for me. I think the Rags will beat Olympi comfortably tomorrow. They don't travel well the Greeks but it only postpones Gollum's agony.

Tougher group my arse.
It's very much in our interest for Chelsea to win this, but now Bob has arrived, I find I can't help but want him to win.
Got it all to do now though.

EDS 1-0 up v Benfica half time. Fantastic goal by Fofana apparently and well deserved. Wish I could be there.
Benfica are a very good team by reputation though, so hope we can keep it up.

Tougher group my arse is right.
That had me scratching my head.

Chelsea obligatory goal from a corner. Probably game over but doesn't actually change anything, Gala still need 2 .
This is such a typical Chelsea game; a few nice runs from Hazard, a couple of nice flicks from Oscar & a whole lot of nothing in particular. Galatasaray have been impotent so far.

Bugger, Benfica scored. Apparently their first shot on target.

Is it just me or has anyone else been really un-impressed by Oscar considering the hype?
Seems to do a lot of nothing really, a few dances around but any time where he really needs to do something he seems to fluff it (like when he was through pretty much and struggled to control the ball)
No doubt theres potential there, somewhere.
Without Hazzard they will have nowt positive.

Oscar is a nice footballer & seems to work pretty hard but doesn't really figure that much imo. Hard to say whether he will keep getting better or whether this is it. Wouldn't drop any of our players for him.
Hazard has started to live up to his potential though. He will be a big asset there for years to come. We could do with a similar type of option imo; someone who can beat two or three players at pace, like SWP used to do.

It still winds me up when I hear the difference in commentary when it comes to the likes of Rags, Chelsea and Arsenal compared to us.
Chelsea not having to do too much here, Galatasaray look impotent. Drogba looks like he's dreaming of the crowd and Sneijder doesn't look anything that he used to be. I suppose they are a team of has-beens now and playing against the more dynamic players that Chelsea have, it becomes obvious the difference in quality of teams.
Hoping for a good 2nd half but won't be holding my breath.

Benfica win 2-1 somehow. City hitting bar, post, saves galore etc. Be great experience for the kids; full house at Hyde.
24 shots to 4. Lost 2-1.

It's been a good run and a great experience for the lads. Seems a decent format now that actually mimics where they might be in 5 years.

A lot of work from Oscar and he seems to emjoy the little flicks etc, but no real end product (like just then!)
Hazzard will tear a team to pieces on his own - totally agree - he's improved and getting better, eta hope he gets frustrated with playing for a shite negative wanker in an fat sam style team and comes over to us!
Hopefully We'll see a similar level coming from Navas.

When you consider we were getting dicked by everybody at this level about a year ago, it's a remarkable achievement. Really unlucky tonight by the sound of it, but we saw that happen to Barca & Bayern v Chelsea.

Navas is what he is, & a very good player but Hazard is potentially on another level. If he was at City, we would be clear at the top of the league. Only a matter of time before he leaves for Barca or Real Madrid.

HazHard is such a good player, so controlled and skilful on the ball. It's plain to see why we were so gutted we didn't get him, even more gutted that he went to Chelsea.
