City Made A Very Poorly Little Girl Very Happy Yesterday

My Niece suffers from a rare form of vasculitis called Henoch-Schonlein Purpura. It is a debilitating illness that means she is often in a lot of pain and, aged just 10, she already has arthritis in both knees and liver damage.

I contacted City, with help from Slim, to see if she could be a mascot for a forthcoming game as she has been through a particularly bad time in the last 6 months and really could do with a boost. A very nice lady called Sarah replied to say that it wouldn't be possible for Kira to be mascot this season but invited her to the match yesterday.

We went pitch-side before the game and had photographs taken, Kira also got to sit on Pellegrini's seat in the dugout and couldn't believe she was able to walk down the players tunnel towards the hallowed turf. We were escorted around by Mike Summerbee, I am pretty sure Kira didn't know who he was but Mike was brilliant with her.

Sarah then gave us complimentary tickets in the Colin Bell Stand, and the team finished off Kira's special afternoon with a great win.

City made Kira a very happy girl yesterday and I am sure it will give her a much needed boost in her struggle to get well. They also made me even more proud of our club.

Thank you City.

Heart warming stuff, thanks for sharing KK. This and City's work in the community is one of the main reasons that I love City. All the important business that a club has to look after and we are still focussed on spending time and money on this valuable work.

I think that it may have been one of the reasons that swayed Sheikh Mansour too as he has continued it with gusto. Kudos to our owner.

Kira is in my prayers.

That is pretty special stuff that she will never forget and will help pull her through some of the bad times.

All the best to her and your family who also must be working so hard to keep her spirits up.

Nice though I read the thread title as a "city made a very portly little girl happy", which would be a bit wtf?

Nice to see you got yourself involved on the day KK. hehe. Have you done a tour or had a similar experience previously? What did you enjoy about it?
