Nice. Does that mean we have to get up at 3 in the morning for a change?

I hope it will be an evening kickoff, then it won't be too bad. If not we'll have to do a reverse Slim/Dazby.

Assuming the players going to the World Cup won't be partaking, this is a list of players our Oz friends can expect to see on the tour.......

Pants
Richard Wright

Micah Richards (barring a miracle)
Dedryck Boyata (if fit)
Joleon Lescott (barring a miracle)
Demichelis
Matija Nastasić (if fit)
Aleksandar Kolarov

Jack Rodwell (if fit)
Javi Garcia (assuming he doesn't get called up?)

Stevan Jovetic (if fit)
John Guidetti

I doubt Gareth Barry will go given his loan status and contract expiring on 31st May.

So i guess this will be a big step up for some of the EDS?

I don't think so ...

City just bought Melbourne Heart ... which is going to be relaunched as Melbourne City ... as already being touted in last annual report "City Football Group" mentioning them and of course there is New York City FC ...

So like last year they did all that in New York, expect some decent outing for all first teamers, the manager, the hierarchy ... proper backing Melbourne and kind of launch of that franchise ... We bought them mid season so haven't yet done much of the mega-launch so I fully expect that to happen this summer ... possibly launching next seasons kits there as well (just like in NY last year) ...

I am FULLY aware that we now own Melbourne City but if the dates are 20th May and assuming that it won't just be the one match then i don't see it working...... e.g. England have their last friendly here in England on the 30th before getting on the plane to South America for two more friendlies to acclimatise, so they will be training the week leading up to that game.

I am fairly sure that other countries will have a similar regime, certainly Spain, Argentina and Belgium will be taking the WC seriously. They aren't going to want players that haven't had much of rest after the league has finished and flying to Oz in between certainly won't help.

Guess we will have to wait and see....

La Liga finishes on the 18th, two days before, so it's not that big a deal to have a friendly on the 20th.

They won't come all this way for what is a very important PR exercise and bring a load of kids.

Just did some digging and City would need an exemption to bring a full squad, pity.

Champions League final is not till 25th May I suppose so club season kind of goes till then ... I think players get released to countries or holidays only end of May ... that's why loan signings are till 31st May ... Plus didn't we play Chelsea in NY in May last week (similar dates) last year? So instead of a pre-next-season tour, it's a post-this-season tour ... this season ends 31st May ...

That you don't understand how a 24 hour clock works doesn't surprise me.

Whilst i admire your positiveness, you forget that last June there wasn't a World Cup or even a UEFA cup. As nice as it would be for our Oz friends to get to see the the big guns, it simply won't happen.

Xavi6 himself has now conceded that it is highly unlikely, siting a FIFA ruling about players have to be released to their respective national sides on 25th May.

I guess they will want a holiday before they embark on a World Cup campaign too.
