City's History With The Media

Whilst no spring chicken myself I was wondering if any of you old codgers on here could enlighten me as to the history of City's relationship with the media.

I know that in the bad old days we were everyone's 2nd favourite team and were more to be pitied than laughed at but I can recall stories of frosty relationships going back over the years and just wondered what the story was.
