For me he has been deteriorating for 3 seasons. Lescott was the better defender in the title season and since then Kompany has just been best of a bad bunch.

He is lucky we need to cover demichelis and nasty sic first, otherwise if I were in charge I'd be seriously considering my options over Kompany

He's been great until that injury scare before the dippers Game. Of course he missed games but MD, Nasti and hart have cost us more games.

He has more than enough credit in the bank mostly due to him carrying the defence this season. He (and zabba) need a bloody good rest.

He hasn't been great at all, he has been poor for a long time now, (onbvious example was him switching off against barca at home resulting in demichelis taking a red). He looks good from last ditch tackles, but he point of the last ditch tackle is that it means the defence fucked up in the first place.

No doubting he has all the talent, but his concentration recently has been appalling

Kompany is one of the best CB's in the world. I know we are looking for someone to blame but IMO it shouldn't be our superb captain,

Nowt wrong with Vinnie, he gives his all and is rightfully respected as one of the worlds best CBs. The problem is that he doesn't seem to rate those around him and constantly tries to cover.

In the title winning season I actually thought Lescott was the better player to have on the pitch and he shielded Vinnie in many ways. Maybe it's just that. He can be a great captain and an all-around great CB but he needs somebody beside him to cover his back/take the flack.

We fucked up in the transfer windows by not getting a quality replacement at L-CB and maybe now the powers that be will sit-up and take notice, especially with our new style of play.

MDM has been the better CB for a while now as he was tonight again Vinny looks like a rabbit caught in headlights at the moment.

He is fucked tired, burnt out. This bollocks of playing senior players in all four competitions is hurting us now.

He let the team down badly tonight, not by playing poorly again but by showing no leadership whatsoever. when those thugs were kicking our players in the first half and the referee turning a blind eye he should have tore atkinson a new one. Should be relieved of the captaincy for a bit. Give him space to reflect on what in all fairness has been a disappointing season for him

Strange how everyone was saying we were screwed on Sunday when we thought he might not make the game and now he is rubbish ........

I didn't believe the former any more than I now believe the latter.

I think , what you write is close to how it really is with Vinnie. He is a great role model pro, multi-lingual and intelligent, but his overall play is quite normal. Not special. His distribution is average at best, his defending at corners haphazard. Why on earth he was watching O'Shea the way he was instead of just getting himself between the player and the goal on corners was, quite frankly amateur and worrying. Why he feels he needs to get into shoving matches with Skrtel is beyond me.

He tries so hard , compensating recently for Demich, who simply should not be at City.

I think the pressure is getting to Vinnie and he should be relieved of the Captaincy.

Being able to chat to the refs is irrelevant anyway, they have their own agendas.
