Big weekend of football and not just at the top. We start off with Part 1 of the Wenger Cup where the Toffees need to win to keep up their CL challenge. With the loss of Distin and Marillas it could be a difficult day for Everton but if anybody can bring it together, I think Martinez can.
Then onto some more mundane games with many just needing a point or 2 to ensure safety. Fulham and Norwich are in very precarious positions and with a bottom of the table clash first up on Sunday, we could see a change in the bottom 3 with Norwich dropping in and any 1 of the 3 moving out.
Sunday's where it's at though and it could well decide who takes the title. If the Dippers win then you'd have to say that it's out of everybodies hands but if the Chav's get something then there's endless permutations that can be had going into the final few games, putting it back into our hands. The question is, what team will Maureen put out? Will he, as he says, put out a weakened team (Is there one at Chelsea?), putting all his faith in the CL challenge or will he at least keep the integrity of the league intact?
My thoughts are split. I'd like to think that any team he put out would be good enough to get something but at the same time I wonder about his relationship with Branda, afterall, Rogers is his protege. Knowing Maureen, a Dippers win could be used to show how he had brought the young Rogers through, but hopefully not.
Then there's the PL and the ref's. I'd like to see an unbiased game where they call it for what it is, whether it's a dive or not. Suarez getting away with his umpteenth simulation is getting a little tiresome now and I'd hope they'd look at his feigned hurt before sprinting like a startled gazelle would have their fullest attention. If the ref's play it to the 'T' then we could see an enthralling finish to the season with 3 teams pushing it to the wire. However, if it's pre-ordained then it will finish like a damp squib with the media love-in, which we've seen already, putting me off anything other than City for the rest of the season.
To finish, we have Part 2 of the Wenger Cup and I can't see anything other than an Arsenal win which could see them lift it again, leaving the Toffees to rue their home loss to Palace.
Many factors to this weekends games and it could leave the rest of the season a little flat or full of interest. Personally, I want to see the latter.
