Besiktas CONFIRM they are in talks with Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott
MANCHESTER CITY outcast Joleon Lescott is in talks with Turkish club Besiktas.
Lescott has fallen well down the pecking order under Manuel Pellegrini and is seemingly certain to leave the Etihad when his contract expires in the summer.
Once considered a future key player for England during his time at Everton, the former Wolves man is set to leave the country in search of a fresh start.
Besiktas have been known to be interested in signing Lescott and now, club board member Erdal Torunogulları has confirmed they are in contact with the City man.
Torunogulları said: "We have been interested in Lescott since last season and are currently in talks with him.
"We have not agreed anything yet with Lescott, he has not signed for us," Turkishfootball.com reported.
With the 31-year-old's contract expiring in the summer he is able to talk to talk to other clubs about a free transfer.
Lescott has made 24 appearances for City this season with just 10 coming in the Premier League.
The remaining 14 have come in the FA Cup, the Capital One Cup, the Champions League and he hasn't featured since March 22.

Man City's Alvaro Negredo refusing to give up on World Cup dream despite poor run of form
ALVARO NEGREDO is praying his goal drought doesn't leave his World Cup dream in ruins.
The Spain and Manchester City striker is suffering one of the worst spells of his career despite the fact Manuel Pellegrini's men are in pole position to land the title.
Negredo has not scored since January - a woeful run stretching back 14 games in all competitions.
His barren spell has cost him his place in Pellegrini's side, starting just one of the last five matches.
Now he is hoping his poor form doesn't see him axed from the Spain squad for this summer's tournament in Brazil.
Negredo said: "It's my dream to be involved in the World Cup - it would be great and is something I am fighting for.
"Not playing regularly here means the national manager has not seen much of me, but I won't give up.
"Quite the contrary, I am full of optimism. I believe he will still have confidence in me.
"I will carry on working hard in training and score as many goals as possible.
"It's about carrying on with the same dynamic that served me so well earlier in the season."
Negredo was on fire earlier this season before losing his form after picking up a shoulder injury against West Ham in January.
But he has backed himself to hit the goal trail again with perfect timing as City look to win their last three games and claim their second title in three seasons ahead of Liverpool and Chelsea.
Negredo added: "I settled in right from the word go although initially my time on the pitch was limited.
"But I continued to work hard and when I got the chance I started to score goals. I was able to bring something to the party in terms of my performances.
"I then picked up a shoulder injury which affected things. We were struggling up front, suffering from injuries and needed all the support we could get.
"I was playing games when I wasn't fully fit - but things have turned around now and I am fit again.
"I am not featuring as regularly as before, but I turned it around earlier in the season so I have got to have the same mentality to turn things around once again.
"I did that by working hard on the training field and scoring goals when I got my chance. Hopefully that's what will happen again."
