Teams at the top of the league

Much has been said and written about the fact we have not spent long at the top of the league.
Of course the only time it really matters is after 38 games. It did get me thinking though, because we've played a fair chunk of season with games in hand, we have never had a lot of chance to be top.
Was wondering if anyone had seen stats pertaining to game weeks, ie there have been 36 game weeks so far, so there have been 36 league leaders. Once our games in hand have been played, has it made much difference? The media have claimed firstly the Arse, then the dippers, as the best teams. As alluded to it doesn't really matter, but as a stats geek it would be nice to know. It might shut up a few chavs and dippers fans as well

This is how many times the club has hit top spot, but in some instances they may have only held it for a few hours or a day with the nature of the league schedule being the way it is.
Arsenal 20
Chelsea 13
Liverpool 9
Manchester City 5
Manchester Utd 1

Saw that stat earlier and it adds up to 48. Thats what got me thinking about the games in hand and just the matchweek leaders. Plus, when the fuck did the rags top the league!?

Aye. You are right. They played Saturday teatime and we played Monday night. This is my point of times teams have led league. Gives false perceptions.

Not only that, these staggered kick-offs can put pressure on teams that might not otherwise exist. The TV companies actually distort the fairness of the competition in this way.

Wonder who gets the rub of the green. Bet they play in red.
