Any Old Irons

Last call from The Away End

Lots of chat from the away fans this week, who are once again torn between wanting to win and not wanting scouse1 to win the title. Makes for good reading though, so enjoy. I am still terrified and personally won't relax until we are 4-0 in the 85th minute, and by that time I will be very drunk, and start my celebrations.
Its been a lot of fun doing these this season, and I always try and focus on match day chat, and nothing more. But following on from Wonderwall's post this morning, I will take a look at other game/related threads and see if I can add a few links in future. With that in mind, and in the complete lack of any team news, here is a thread about what the hammers fans think about the top three teams:

Now is the time....COME ON CITY !!!
My Favourite
Our Dear leader comrade Allardyce will lead us to glorious victory!
And the rest...
Last game of the season
I don't really care about the result - all that matters is we put a good effort in, and get this lousy season behind us so we can regroup in the summer and build a squad to fight for the title next season. Ok, maybe not the last bit...
Surely Sam won't be able to 'target' this game as a write-off without being accused of unduly affecting the Prem title outcome? Don't know what he'll do with this game.
I actually fancy us to thwart there title challenge, it's the kind of thing we do.
Only two possible results here.... a backs to the wall 0 -1 with Citeh having 32 shots on target to our one or another total humiliation. Suffice to say I'm not holding my breath.
I want City to win the title (mainly coz I don't like Chelsea and can't stand the idea of the w*nkfest that is certain to follow a scouse win) but I will be delighted to take three points of them even if doing so means the title goes where I would far rather it didn't
Our club versus clubs from Manchester needing points to win the title? We're gonna win this
Let's spoil the Mancs party. I mean it's not as though we haven't done it before....
Lets lose 3-0 and bring in Jack Rodwell or Micah Richards on loan Win/Win scenario
Watching how powerful City were tonight we could be on the end of a pasting sunday. All I hope is we don't cave in especially early in the game.Probably our best hope is to get plenty of bodies behind the ball as Villa did tonight in the 1st half and try and frustrate them.I`d play Armero left back purely for his pace and Jarvis in front of him for cover and protection on our left side to try and nullify Zabaletta overlapping and getting in behind.Play 5 across the midfield(I`d leave Nolan out but it wont happen) and play Downing,Noble,Taylor,Diame,Jarvis.and attempt to make it as difficult as possible for Toure,Silva &co. There a class side and no doubt will have to much for us and eventually grind us down.Thankfully we are safe and can relax whilst watching it rather than depending on a result to stay up
poor crowd there tonight, especially considering the importance
As much as I dislike Liverpool and would prefer City to win it.....us winning would be bloody hilarious and I hope we do it
This is a no lose situation for me. I want City to win the title as I can't stand the self important Scousers but if by some miracle we do win, it would be very funny. Really looking forward to Sunday now
Ideal scenario. We beat Citeh. Liverpool draw. Everybody wins....oh , except Gerrard. A new book of condolence will be required
Going to be difficult away from home, but I think our approach will be similar to the Liverpool home game about a month ago. I reckon we'll give it a good go to get 3 points. Nothing to lose
We've got to stop Yaya Toure on saturday. He's the third best player in the world, but I reckon Matty Taylor can do a job on him. Citeh 2-3 Irons
IN THE NAME OF ALL TINGS FECKIN MOST HOLY AND IN THE HIGHEST - WE HAVE TA FECKIN LOOSE!!!!!
I find it hilarious that Liverpool's title hopes rest on the shoulders of Andy Carroll
Let's rain on their parade , attack, attack, attack from the off , bang them in from all over , smash them.....,
I am relieved City will win, the Liverpool fans I know (none of them from Liverpool) would have been doing the 'back where we belong' thing, rather forgetting the last two decades. And the less said about Chelsea the better
Haha, we've got no chance but I think I have to at least put on enough to save the bet. Plus that way I can sit there and actually want us to win! On a side note, watching that Aguerooooooo goal on youtube... wow what a moment. If we ever get that one day, I'm gonna absolutely cry my eyes out
City could be starting with 8 of the players that played the game against QPR in 2012, they were nervy against QPR and left it late against there 10 men, if we defend well and don't roll over I can see them getting frustrated and nervy again, whatever the outcome should be a good away day
I don't like Liverpool. Hate that self-important, self-pitying Scouse b*llocks. Can't abide the way they go on and on about Hillsborough, but conveniently forget about the people they killed at Heysel. And Stevie f***ing G cost me a grand when he scored that goal at the Cup Final. BUT ... I support West Ham. And I've had to put up with City putting 12 past us this season. So I'd love it, absolutely love it if we could go to the Etihad and pull off the kind of 1-0 wins we got at Old Trafford and the Emirates in the year of the Greatest Escape. They batter us all day long, and then we pinch it on the break. What that does to Liverpool is none of my concern. Though I would say this ... no side that lets in three goals, away at a newly promoted club, when they're 3-0 up with less than 15 minutes to go deserves to win a league title. Say what you like about Sam - and I'm still in the 'twist' camp - he wouldn't let a lead slip like that ... ... not that he'd have got us into it in the first place, of course.
Sunday is the Prem’s “money shot” - and our game being live/beamed round the planet to the worlds billions, against the worlds richest club, is a PR dream for the Daves and WHU – particularly if we turn up and influence the outcome
Right now, I see nothing but a comfortable Citeh display resulting in a 3-1 win. I cannot see us doing anything that will deny them the title.
looking forward to going to this one... getting annoyed with pretty much everything i've read writing us off... would really love to win this one to prove them all wrong for once.
Either they will be flying and if they score first, they will crucify us.
If we can keep them from scoring for 30 mins then I think we could get something. More likely 0-0
Maybe a slight misunderstanding on my part W. As Allardyce is still in job preservation mode, I fully expect an experienced 11 with no risks of media questioning. Football dinosaur yes but media manipulator also yes.
Do we roll over against Man City? I simply cannot decide, actually hold on, FA Cup final, Steven Gerrard 92nd minute…. yea f*ck em, lets roll over and give the title to Man City. Sam please field the same youngsters you did against Forest and you will have redeemed yourself this season. Im all for the integrity of the club but this is one situation i cannot refrain from throwing that out the window if it means Liverpool missing out on the title
it will not happen but how great would it be to beat them. after the two joke cup games against them and them taking the piss out of us there would be nothing greater than wiping the smug look off their faces. city play good football but so do liverpool. city have brought their way to success which i dont like. i might change my mind on that if it ever happened to us but until that day i will stick with it
If the 'Pool win it fair enough. The season we've had we will be pissing against the wind at the Etihad, We've lost too many games that we should have won but didn't...
All I ask from the team is 110% for 90 mins if we lose 4-0 so be it but if we lose 4-0 and we've ran our balls off and they had to earn every goal I don't mind.
I'm still taking medication for going to the City ground in the FA cup...so like I said NO ROLL OVER
I fear some of our players might have one foot on the plane to all points tropical anyway. But what a shame about Suarez's tears eh? Perhaps he now has some idea how people feel who have been robbed by his cheating over the years.
One for the road...
