Sorry for the extra thread but this bollocks keeps cropping up in different threads so:
City pre (Thaksin) takeover. City's average attendance during Pearce's season of utter misery, before Thaksin took over at City was down on previous seasons: 39,997. We had 3 or 4 35, 36,000 attendances round about mid winter time, lowest being Fulham at home: 35,776 we finished 14th I think.
On Jan 1st of that season we scored 2 at home v Everton ATT 39,836. WE DIDN'T SCORE ANOTHER HOME GOAL. Attendances went up.
On 28 April we lost 0-2 to Aston Villa in front of 40,799 people, who hadn't seen a goal since January. They hadn't seen a trophy since 1976.
City team that day: Isaksson, Onuoha (Jihai 46), Dunne, Distin, Ball, Hamann (Sinclair 68), Barton, Ireland, Vassell, Samaras, Mpenza.
Subs Not Used: Weaver, Dabo, Trabelsi.
On New Years Day 2011. The famous Liverpool played Bolton Wanderers at Anfield. Att: 35,400http://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/ind ... c=268447.0'Odd. It didn't look that low - there were a couple of empty seats dotted around, and the corner of the annie road was nearly empty (didn't see the upper bit). If that was 35.000, how low was the attendance for the dead game against Utrecht? It looked even less. And they gave tickets away for that one...'
'Wow, that's nearly half a million pounds in receipts! Might be too much of a risk to keep Roy after all.
Bring Kenny in, and you've pretty much guaranteed capacity for all home games.
What a dilemma for the owners. (sarcasm)'
'which game in 2004 got that low an attendance - cant remember of any ged's games have such a shit attendance'
'There's two games v. portsmouth with low attendances.
17.3.04 (Wed. night) 34,663 v. Portsmouth
14.12.04 (Tues. night) 35,064 v. Portsmouth
So nothing new then.
In 2011 Anfield held over 44,000 (highest att 44,923).
In AUGUST that season, (2nd game of the season) Att v West Brom= 41,194.
Empty seats, 2nd game of the NEW season= 3780. For a home game, in a NEW, FRESH SEASON, the multi title, multi European Cup winning, worldwide, history ridden, gigantic, title deserving, legendary, club had 3,780 empty seats & pulled precisely 395 more fans, than historyless, Johnny Come Lately City managed at the end of a season where we hadn't scored a fucking goal at home for 3 months.Liverpool team the day they pulled 35k.
25 Reina
02 G Johnson
05 Agger (Kyrgiakos 89)
06 Aurelio
37 Skrtel
04 Raul Meireles (Gerrard 21)
17 Maxi
21 Lucas
09 Torres
18 Kuyt
24 Ngog (Cole 82)
Fucking good job they signed Suarez & Sturridge.
Oh but look, end of the following season after they 'BRING KENNY IN' :
May 1st 2012 Fulham Home Att, 40,106. But that's LESS than our pre takeover Villa att !!
Oh wait, look at this:
May 8th 2012 CHELSEA H 40, 721 BUT THAT'S V CHELSEA & IS STILL LESS THAN WE GOT, PRE TAKEOVER V VILLA, AFTER US NOT SCORING A HOME GOAL FOR 3 MONTHS.
But how can this be ? We are so much smaller, only have Johnny Come Latelys supporting us & have no history.Yes we sometimes have empty seats. We will have more empty seats & higher attendances when the new stand is built & more empty seats & higher still attendances when the next stand after that is built. Also, their away area is almost always sold out, ours is hardly ever sold out & City fans buy up the tickets (as v Villa), yet still, over the years, Liverpool have regularly been below 45k ish capacity at Anfield. With all that worldwide fame & istree.
They have been buzzing this season because they did well & are close to a title. We had a bit of a dip mid winter & lacked some of our usual enthusiasm. Fair play to Liverpool for their efforts this season. Liverpool have had decent attendances over the years but have failed to fill their ground on plenty of occasions, in spite of all their trophies, worldwide support & history.
We don't need any lectures in loyalty or history or attendances from those fucking bitter, jealous, wankers amongst their supoort. They are full of shit, as I have proved here, & they can just fuck off
