I'm seriously considering having a punt on the dippers, and grabbing one of the many free bet offers out there.
http://www.oddschecker.com/football/eng ... gue/winnerLooking at that selection you should be able to get a price that's effectively around 35-1 on them.
Chuck £25 quid on and you'll end up with the best part of a grand to drown your sorrows with. Hell, if you don't mind losing £50 (under what would be brilliant circumstances) then you should be able to win enough money to buy a week's holiday.
Just a thought.

I'm no gambler sadly so i don't know how i'd effectively get 35-1 on them...can you explain? I've got a fiver spare and I see it as a decent contingency plan to console myself. I'd like to put this bet on!

Ah well. £5 on for £100 back if City lose. Being skint that'll cheer me up a tiny bit....

Well the best one looks to be something like Betfred, but a closer look suggest that this would have been better done yesterday as some of the free bets might take up to 24 hours. Betvictor would have been the same.
The point I'm making though is that by receiving a free bet of equal value to your own, you're effectively doubling the odds. Of course you can only do this once with each online bookmaker, but there are a LOT to choose from.
You do of course have to be disciplined, because they want your business, and it would be very easy just to leave the money in your account and gradually lose it.
Even so, £20 at 18-1 on the dippers would be a bit of consolation. Me, I've decided not to as I think we'll do the business this afternoon.
