Everton have kept Barkley and signed Lukaka. Already a very good transfer window for them.

£28M according to reports, Chelsea are getting some top prices for their players this summer. £40M for Sideshow Bob as well, ludicrous.

The Luiz price was ludicrous and I'd also say that Lukaku's is. Saying that, when you get 30 mil for Shaw then you know the world's gone mad.

Thought Luiz was £50m.

Not a bad summer for Everton. Barry, Lukaku, resigning Barkley, and Besic looks promising

It was rumoured to be 50, but listed everywhere as 40 or undisclosed. So anyone's guess.

He might have gone to 'Wonga.com'.

Ha that's a very positive way of looking at it. You could argue that since last season's team they've only added an unproven Besic and also lost one of their best impact players (Deulofeu)... all in all the squad is basically the same. They should aim to build on it ideally.

totally agree with this. they spent almost all their transfer kitty on a player they already had last season. in europe this season when they weren't last season, and they should be adding five or six bodies minimum. so far they've added besic and lost deulofeu - martinez will probably pull a few loan signings out of his hat, but unless they plan to run out the U21s every thursday, they're going to struggle to get top 4.

Signing loan players is so underwhelming from a fan's perspective too... kinda like getting your Christmas present a month early, playing with it and then wrapping it up for Christmas day. Bit underwhelming really. The fans need that boost for the feel good factor and the training ground needs new faces too to keep players on their toes. A team should always sign players every summer imo. You stagnate otherwise.

On the other hand, they've bought a striker he trusts and who'll stay with them for at least a couple of season now and although they will probably have a middle year this year, they'll be ready to go for top four next season.

And it went in."

I appreciate it might be a rhetorical question, but it feels so good to say it that I will anyway: Everton finished 5th to the rags' 7th.
