Sorry, I'm not great at this kind of thing, but I reckon this whole episode has the makings of a brilliant new song.

Who wants to start the proceedings? Bob? :)

It takes a cake, baked by the Sheikh,
to motivate Yaya? Gimme a break!

Yaya Toure, he's having a laugh
Yaya Toure, he's having a laugh

Clearly his agent is on the take,
Everyone's angry, even Paul Lake

Yaya Toure, he's having a laugh
Yaya Toure, he's having a laugh

How do we know this? From tweets that were fake?
They can't be from Yaya, he's on summer break

Yaya Toure, he's having a laugh...

Just an endless chorus of "happy birthday to you etc" might suffice.

To the tune of "knees up mother brown" and with suitable corny rhyme:

He didn't get his cake
He didn't get his cake
Yaya Yaya, Yaya Yaya,
We think that you're great

Didn't even get a birthday cake

Coz the Venky boys know how to bake

Go, go, go, go, go, go
Go Yaya, it's your birthday
We gonna party like it's your birthday
We gonna eat cake like it's your birthday
And you know we don't give a fuck it's not your birthday

(change lyrics where appropriate.)

All it needs.

Or the Stevie Wonder one "Happy Birthday to ya, Happy Birthday to ya....Yaya Toure"

Or an alternative Richard Harris Sings! tune if Yaya leaves:

Someone left the cake out in the rain
I don’t think that I can take it
‘Cause it took so long to bake it
And I’ll never have that recipe again

Clever...

Ted, that richard harris tune - it's the best worst song I've ever heard. Richard harris was one of my dad's heroes and I had some laugh winding him up after a few pints one night... he'd never known it was him singing it all those years ago and when I said I had a richard harris clip for him on youtube, you should have seen his face drop.

Fantastic.

Anyway, happy birthday dear yaya, happy birthday to you....

There's video out there somewhere of Richard Harris singing that live (if you can avoid the version with people like Bez giving their opinion over it), & it's so bad it kind of becomes brilliant. It starts & you go wtf? But the combination of him being a shite but strangely listenable singer, kind of wurbling the notes upto pitch with such conviction, the heavy duty chord changes & changes of melody, tempo, little cheesy rock bits various complex sections ,huge build up, back in to Richard singing the Ronnie Barker style verse again building to a crescendo, then he kind of nails the high note at the death. It's like he's climbed a mountain.

It brilliant watching him so completely out of his depth, surrounded by all these talented blokes who he really shouldn't be working with, & yet somehow he never falters, maintains the conviction, battles through & somehow pulls it off.

It's like watching Phil Jones playing for England in a way, but with a happier ending.

What song is that Ted? Being a hopelessly out-of-my-depth musician too i find that description strangely compelling and really wanna watch it.

It's MacArthur Park (Or Macarthur's Park as Harris sings, as he got the words wrong on the original recording).

The common version on Youtube has a load of 'comedians' & tv 'personalities' etc & misses out most of the song. But there is the same video out there unadulterated, somewhere.

Turned 31 without a cake toure, toure,
Never shook his hand he said, toure, toure
Scores goals all day, and boy he can play, but now he seems to want away,
yaya toure wants a birthday cake

To the tune of the Torres song (also the tevez one before we signed him)
