...is apparently now a done deal.
Personally quite excited by this signing. He seems a faster, bigger and more forward thinking De Jong. Not bad really...

He looks great. Gotta presume this is goodbye for Rodwell too...not that i'll personally miss him. I'd much rather Huws had his spot.

I hope he has signed. Has this been announced? As for Rodwell, who would sign him given his injury record? I feel sorry for him but I can only see a loan deal for him.

Diario de noticias say it's done. Negative about Mangala though. Porto would like to keep him for another year but if he goes City is not his favourite destination anyway they say.

Are we waiting for the first Monday in June to announce our signings, as per Khaldoon's 'Coming in early' speech?

Great video. He looks a different class to De Jong. Very comfortable on the ball strong in the tackle and excellent range of passing. He will free up Fernandinho and Yaya if he stays and he could play deep with Fernadinho in a difficult CL away match. Great signing. If Yaya goes the two Brasilians ( actually Fernando has a Portuguese passport)and Cesc would be a great midfield three. It could happen.

I'm told he's a younger, quicker more skilful De Jong. If that's true we've just acquired a BARGAIN OF A PLAYER. Bring it on along with Fabregas, will Yaya want to leave now?

The Octopus cometh. could be a great signing. wonder what it means for Javi though as we will surely only play 1 DFM at a time

With Fernandinho Fernando & Toure means no room for Javi G, sadly. Throw in Fabregas and Nasri, Silva and Milner we must have one of the best midfields in Europe; surely? The challenge will be keeping them ALL happy!!!

Fabregas isn't coming. And Garcia isn't leaving.
Cheers

Applaud your confidence DM; are these just your views or is this a 'definitive statement of fact?' If so, I won't put my 10p bet on 'incoming players!'

I see no reason to part with Garcia, but I wouldn't bet on him staying.

Defensive fucking midfield?
I know I've shouted at that at more than just Garcia in years gone by :)

Interesting signing this one.
Apparently Fernando is being brought in with mainly the Champions league in mind, expect him to be starting all the Champs league games next year and be a bit "in and out" in the league and cups (so don't whack him in your fantasy footy team too hastily).
The general belief is Fernando is our number 1 target this season (odd i know) but Pellegrini reckons our midfield to have been too tame last season, especially so in Europe and has identified Fernando as the man he believes we are crucially missing in our quest to go further in the UCL.
He sounds like a proper Nigel De Jong-esk beast and i certainly welcome that kind of player with open arms. Nothing like a good tackle to rally the crowd in the big games and derbies!
Looking forward to this one hitting the OS.

as one of those pair of genuises Phips or Saul Goodman said a couple days ago "No on outside the club really has any idea what's going on."
cheers
p.s. no one would really be sad about us signing Fabregas, provided Yaya isn't leaving, but i can't ever see it happening. And Garcia was fantastic at points in the trophy-laden runout of the season. Why fuck with him. He's actually becoming very decent at his role as Spanish Gaz Baz.

Garcia's going nowhere - he played well when called upon and he is versatile enough to cover central defence as well when needed. We're not going through an entire season with just three central midfielders. Rodwell is out the door and there have been signs he was no longer needed for most of the season just gone (same with Micah) if you know what to look for.

Would it be possible to give him a chance to settle? Rather than roaring and shouting for him to be dropped after two or three games.
