Seeing the new MCFC (Melbourne City) badge alongside the NYCFC badge

got me thinking that, firstly, I like both and primarily that maybe the plan is to take ours back in that direction towards a redesigned version of:

or

I'd be quite keen...how about you lot?

The Melbourne badge looks shit lol. They have changed their name to Melbourne city football club and changed their kit. Their first kit looks like our old away kit. This hasn't went down well with the natives.

Maybe the natives need to get "their" act together?
Cheers

Interesting that Melbourne would change their name and kit, similar to what Cardiff have done and what Hull have tried to do. Rightly, there was some form of outcry from the fans and I wonder if MCFC (Aus) have the same sort of feelings?

I feel for the fans, however I would balance out their desire for tradition with the fact that they are probably going to see some success soon and a rapid increase in the quality of players like duff and villa, something that hull and cardiffs owners can't really offer.

With them only being around for a few years I'd suggest that there's not much change and they will more than appreciate the benefits that being part of the City Group will bring. I was quite took back at how old the club is and even moreso, how their local rival seemed to have tried to stitch another local team up by basically keeping the area to themselves.

They were only founded 5 years ago, so I'm sure the name change is manageable. Plus it's to a sensible name, rather than a daft one that the colonies seem to go for which Hull's owner was trying.
As for the kit, it was red & white stripes, it's now red & black. Not like we've gone to blue with them.

I much prefer the retro badge and feel that represents the club more than the newer badge with the eagle and the three stars. Don't get the stars one bit and just leads to us being mocked. Let's get the old badge back.

The Aussie fans have a mixed reaction to it all. Some are saying the club is a sell out and some are excited by what the owners will bring.
In terms of the badge and the kits, they don't really like them. I can't see many buying the home one as it is white with single blue and black stripe down one side.
The away kit will be their best seller due to it being red and white striped (similar to Ath. Madrids).
But like most have said, they are a relatively new team. Existing fans will keep their opinions but enjoy the ride. The main thing here though will be the number of new fans this take over will bring.

No one likes change by nature. By the end of the year the only people objecting will be die-hard RAGs. And they can fuck off anyway.

I would love to see the retro badge back with a modern twist that aligns it with the other two badges. I wonder though how recognisable our current badge has become world wide as a brand or whether a new badge would increase that further?

Totally agree with you.
The new badge is the only thing about the club that's still crap IMHO.
Looks cheap and tacky.

That Melbourne City badge looks like it should be the village crest of some place in the Faroe Islands.
