World Cup - who will you root for (...after England go out)

Or even if we don't go straight out as expected.

Will you be following/semi-following one of the countries our players are representing?

I'd actually love to see Bosnia bloody a few noses.....would be nice to see Vinnie emerge (after a successful Belgium campaign) being fully recognised as truly one of the world's best.

Belgium and Argentina. Pretty much rooting for City players to be honest. I hope Dzeko bangs a good few goals in.

Belgium. I've been watching Belgium games and cheering for them ever since Vinnie joined, really.

I love Zab and Kun, but find it difficult to cheer for the Argentinian national side when their fans are jumping up and down singing anti-English songs. Half their songs seem to contain the word 'eeenglayys' and I'm pretty sure they're not love songs.

Want Holland to progress as I posted earlier, just to keep v Gaal and v Persie out there as long as possible, but then to have a heartbreaking semi-final defeat. Aren't I kind and thoughtful?

France going out in the group would be lovely.

I was going to be cheering for Ivory Coast, but I'm not sure how I feel now.

Bosnia and Croatia, because of Dzeko and Rakitic. I hope they go far.

It'd also be cool to have an African country reach the semis, so Ivory Coast it is then.

Argentina for me. It's not just for the City players as my first World Cup was 1978 in Argentina with all the ticket tape and Mario Kempes etc. still the best World Cup for me.

As England will fluke it to the semis with an Argentina v Brazil final I will cheer for Argentina. Goes totally against the grain but we have three players for them against one for Brazil. Would be chuffed for our boys if they won it.

Argies beat us on penners in the semi by the way

But what about the King of Spain?

Though on the other hand, if they went out the group stage or v Brazil in round 2, it would help us, giving El Mago a rest before the new season. He never gets any rest, Spain are always playing for something right to the very end.

Sorry most show u new motivation video for Bosnia . It's kind our way to suffer ( 5 times we need just one victory sometime just one goal and we fail ) until we make something, and i really like video .

Good luck in finding a country that doesn't hate the English. No bugger loves us.

Argentina for me cos Zaba's playing for them. Ditto Kün. And Demi. But mostly Zaba.

And also because Jorge Luis Borges was one of the greatest writers of the 20th century.

Actually, I've found that the Germans generally don't mind us, their attitude is more... incomprehension.

And most of the other countries aren't obsessed with us. But I have watched home Argentina internationals v Bolivia and countries like that, mainly to see Zab, yet the crowd... it's always 'eenglayys' this and 'eenglayys' that, right from the kick-off. And throw in a few Malvinas for good measure. I couldn't give a fuck about the Falkland Islands, and I doubt any English fans would these days think up any songs about them. But they never seem to sing about anything else. I was quite taken aback. If most countries in Europe hate us, I doubt any would bother making up songs about us if we weren't in direct opposition.

In fact, it's a weekly event, like Orwell's 'Two Minutes Hate'. This picture is a banner from a LEAGUE game at River Plate FFS!

Yet Argentinian players come over here and we love them for their attitude and skill. You could not get an English player who replicates Pablo Zabaleta in any way, shape or form. What tremendous ambassadors all three of our players are for their country and for international friendship! It's just a shame that their fan culture seems to be like ours 30 years ago, ie dominated by knuckle-dragging extremists who want to stir shit up against a country that really does mean them no harm...

So I wouldn't want Argentina to win for that reason, I'm afraid. Sorrry Zab. Win all your medals with us instead, eh?

the only thing worth watching over there from start to finish will be the women playing topless volleyball on the beech.

You've just changed my mind about watching the TWO HOUR build up to the inaugural game on Thursday night ;-) I'm hoping to catch all the games that involve our lads.

I got Croatia in the sweep but won't be bothering with their games.....
