World Cup Commentary And Pundits

How do you think they're getting on?

Having to listen to Lawrenson and Neville have really turned me off the Beebs commentary and it's only been made bareable by the fact that Henry brought something to the party.

As well as the Beeb bringing the boring and tedious Phil Neville on board, who somehow found an excuse for everything Rooney did wrong, they've also brought in another loathesome Rag sychophant in CamelGob. How these people get airtime, I don't know.

So, who's winning the battle, the Beeb, ITV or Sky; or maybe a non-UK based outlet?

Lawro is lawro. He whines but he can be vaguely entertaining if you put up with his terrible jokes

Neville is truly terrible. Truly. He actually makes Rio look interesting and impassioned (which he isn't).. Henry is pretty cool.

All of ITVs coverage just irritates me like mad. Though I don't mind Dixon as a co-commentator. He's easy to ignore and largely inoffensive.

I really enjoyed Tim Vickery's appearance on motd after the Brazil game though.

Much prefer the BBC. Can't stand the constant adverts every five minutes.

Facebook was hilarious last night all about how bad Phillip Neville is , ranging from tedious boring cunt to how has the talking clock got a pundit job at the World Cup ?

Shockingly annoying is how I would describe him , very possibly the worst pundit ever and that is saying something .

I didn't hear him...being in the states I guess gives us some reprieve. Was he really worse than Michael Owen tho?

No. Not as annoying as Owen imo, not as blatantly biased in favour of his mates, but equally shit in a different way. Just as boring.

It does beg the question, why are these people getting these jobs if they're clearly not right for it? I'd prefer it if Danny Murphy was commentating as at least he's got a personality.

I thought he ran him very close - obvious comments completely lacking in insight and delivered in a monotone voice that made me want to punch him.

Adverts and Adrian Chiles constantly er constantly repeating himself is enough reason to skip the itv build up.

Which channel was Paddy V on?

I watch the BBC with the sound off. I don't bother with ITV and listen to the appalling BBC 5 Lies instead when they have a game.

He's a pundit on ITV. Currently on the beach covering Switzerland v Ecuador. Good gig to get it must be said

I'd love to smash Childs with a baseball bat!

Be over too quickly.

A more measured approach would be more satisfying. Perhaps sandpaper the skin off the soles of his feet and pour alcohol on it.

Ha ha ha, I think you're right. Pity those protestors didn't get through the glass ;-)

His screaming at half time just made the whole thing unwatchable and even the pundits were taken back. It continued after the break when he told us that they weren't talking and basically give up on any form of debate, leaving Dixon to take up the slack. I think Paddy V must've slapped him with his cock because he seemed a little disorientated when they came back on.

I still miss Brian Moore and Barry Davies. Going even further back, David Coleman speaking down a phone line.

On the plus side, there's no John Motson this time around. "And it comes to... haha... Gascoigne, making his... haha... 18th appearance for England tonight, who finds Platt. OHHHH!!! and he's tackled there by... haha..." Bloody awful commentator, who insisted on doing a little fake laugh whenever he forgot what to say, which was... haha... often.

Not minding the commentary too much, though Townsend and Tyldesley are obviously awful.

Matterface and Carlisle must be the worst pairing imaginable. It sounds like you're watching a game of Countdown rather than a game of football.

They showed him sat on a beach in his shorts the other day, pre-watershed. Not nice.

I'm surprised a large group of people didn't try to pick him up and throw him into the water.
