Joe brings us back in with a foot.

only for Micah to blow it with what is always his downfall: over-reliance on strength

I hate to be disloyal but thank goodness. We can get home and be ready for training on Monday. I thought Sinclair's penalty was shit but Micah's was even worse.

Only fair to say Joe made a couple of decent saves but he cost us the match earlier.

Glad we're on our way home. At least we've shown the USA what 'Typical City' is all about.

Boyata is the new Lescott. People want to give pens etc against him for not looking cool enough & blokes around him can be guilty of all manner of abominable shite stuff, but he gets singled out as if he has done something as bad, or worse than they have, when they have contributed the square root of fuck all towards doing anything even resembling their actual jobs.

But, he's not good enough, neither is Nastasic & Rekik is completely invisible.

We have only two confirmed central defenders for next season, one is often injured, one is coming towards the end of his career.

Then we have a brand new one (in theory) who may be instantly brilliant or totally shit for a year, plus a bunch of cbs who are not as good as Evans, Jones or Smalling, or Wes Brown, Distin, Skrtel, possibly even Vertonghen or Dawson, or even Huth or even Rio fucking Ferdinnd.

Why ?

Boyata looked far better then Rekik from these tour games.Really disappointed with Rekik.Overall Pellegrini might well have been pleased with what he has seen in the games over there.Killer instinct missing a few times but we looked pretty good in every game with virtually a full reserve side.

Joe has looked ok even if he could have done better with that 2nd goal but surely it was more Rekik's fault for being asleep. As for Micah's penalty there was no other likely outcome. In all the practices I have seen he has been useless at penalties so god knows how he was allowed to take one.

I doubt very much that City were arsed about getting into the final.

Hart should never ever be allowed to race off his line. It always costs us, his timing is just awful. Stick to what he's good at which is being a world class shot stopper. He never has been and he never will be a sweeper-keeper and if we try and ask him to do that it will cost us.

I think Boyata is the most talented of that 3 as a defender, but he always looks a bit hurried as if he's about to fuck up wheras Rekik has a way of being totally & completely shite without looking flustered at all. Rekik was struggling in the reserves before he left on loan imo. Yesterday, every pass he made was sideways or backwards, far worse than Lescott, & that is supposed to be his forte. He was playing in a friendly game. God only knows what he'd be like at Anfield or the swamp.

What we saw there was a repeat of last season, where Hart was racing out all over the place trying to rescue Nastasic from impending doom & getting it wrong. He saw that Rekik was about to get skinned alive & tried to rescue the situation but made it worse. Needs to do his own job.

If we had a 4th centre back who was decent, we'd be in the best shape we ever seen imo, as Willy looks a fine keeper & Jovetic looks like a £50 mil signing.

But if we ever have to play a run of games with any combination of those 3 at cb, we're fucked. I worry if any play even next to VK. Nastasic is probably the best option in that respect so long as he doesn't have to challenge for any headers.

Obviously there is concern about centre back. I assume we will get Mangala any moment and to me he looks the business; pace strength excellent jump on him and tidy distribution. There again that's just U tube. Sagna can fill in too. I guess the question is whether we sell Nastasic or not. He's going nowhere until Mangala is landed that's for sure. In the Charity shield it's Boyata and Nastasic with Clichy at Right Back and Kolarov at Left Back; the gunners will be licking their chops. Still we'll have Jovetic Dzeko Nasri Silva and Yaya so we'll have plenty of attacking threat. Hopefully Vinny MDM Zaba and Sagna will be fit for Newcastle.

From the reporting of this you'd never guess that it's a pre-season friendly.

And how ironic, the International Champions Cup with no Champion in the final.

Exactly...... Pre season friendly comp. I'm actually glad we are coming back home now to focus on what's important. New CB early this week, no injuries, great season warm up in charity shield then another week to pull it all together. I don't even think we wanted to win these American friendlies much, win was second to conditioning and performance. Which is what we got.
