Italian sides cynical? That’s an understatement, expect loads of blatant constant cheating and underhanded tactics, acting the cunt etc etc. It’s going to be tricky tonight but we must play with a good bit of savvy and shrewdness to not get sucked in and to overcome the shit they will dish up.
We failed to deal with the cheating stuff last season and ultimately it’s what cost us in the end.
Hopefully we have learned, although but I am not so sure, last game it seemed some of the naivety was still there.

During the first round of group stage matches the top 3 players with the highest # of passes were the 3 in Roma's midfield. Yes, they played CSKA but still.

Also, apparently we're 1-7 against Italian opposition with the 1 win coming quite a long time ago.

I remember it well. I was sat on the wall at the front of the Kippax.

I can remember us beating Juve and Milan at Maine Rd

Didn't we draw 1-1 with Juventus, mate?

I know we beat Milan 3-0 because it was my birthday.

...and we ALWAYS beat Milan on your birthday.

cheers

According to Wikipedia (must be true) we have played Italian sides 8 times in UEFA comps, won 2, lost 2, drawn 4.

Daily Mail citing Opta:

City lost last 3 UCL matches- their worst ever run in European comp
City won just 1 of last 7 European meetings vs Italian clubs (L4 D2)
Roma avging 2 goals conceded in last 9 UCL matches
City's last 3 European meetings with Italian clubs have all ended 1-1
Aguero avgs 1 goal in every 2 UCL matches for City

I thought that was an interesting (brave) quote from him basically calling for the crowd to up their game and lift the lads, the twelfth man. It goes against what some believe that the players don't care about the quality of the home support. Imho I think this would be very very important to the players to have the fans roaring them on.

Got to love our strength in depth.I fancy another Lampard cameo role tonight.I thought Kolarov would start tonight he would cause Maicon problems all night on the overlap

Statistics. Won one of last seven vs Italians sounds bad; only lost two of eight sounds fantastic; choose your stats to make your point lol

Wikipedia lists the scores and there are 4 draws, 2 losses, 2 wins.

Navas for Milner. Going for pace. Clichy for Kolarov going for defensive solidity. Hmm wasn't very defensively solid against Hull. Please start with a high tempo.
