http://www1.skysports.com/football/news ... n-athleticWigan have sacked manager Uwe Rosler.
The decision comes following a disappointing run of results, culminating in last Friday’s defeat against local rivals Bolton Wanderers, which left the club 22nd in the Sky Bet Championship table.
“I have thought long and hard about this,” said Wigan owner Dave Whelan in a statement on the club's website.
Success
“I have thought about little else for days in fact. Initially my thoughts were that Uwe should be given more time. He is a good manager and I like him immensely as a person, he is honest, passionate and clearly works day and night to try and earn success for the team.
"For whatever reason, the team is not gelling, despite substantial financial backing in the summer and the dressing room being blessed with a huge amount of quality."
“Following the incredible achievements of last season, I felt it was the right thing to do that he should be given more time. However, the situation we find ourselves in at the moment, and the run of results in recent months, really has been alarming.
"Something is clearly not working. For whatever reason, the team is not gelling, despite substantial financial backing in the summer and the dressing room being blessed with a huge amount of quality.
Reluctant
“Therefore, I have now come to the reluctant conclusion that for the long term good of the club, we need a change.
“Uwe is a good man and a good manager and he will bounce back, I am sure of that. We thank him for his efforts with us, I could not have wished to appoint a more committed and hard-working manager and we sincerely wish him all the best in his future career.
“But now the search begins immediately for a replacement.”
Wigan have confirmed assistant manager Graham Barrow will take temporary charge of the first team, assisted by first team coach Eric Black, in the build up to the next game, against Middlesbrough on Saturday 22 November.

He's better than Wigan.
Hopefully he's been noticed enough to take a shitty Prem team job or ambitious Championship team next time.
I hope he stays in the UK.

Back to hating Whelan with his broken leg anecdotes and his Thatcher-loving FFP-loving inclinations then - I hope he breaks both his legs next time.

A decent striker would have made all the difference, but they cost money.Supported in the transfer market!!! what a joke. Another chairman expecting the impossible.

Amazing how the vast majority of Wigan fans believe in Whelan and the shite he spouts out . Uwe got Wigan FC to the play offs from nowhere last season with the same group of players Owen Coyle was going to get relegated with . Last summer Whelan then sold Wigans best player to Everton for relative mega bucks plus Whelan was still receiving mega Premier League parachute payments . Rosler was given a paltry budget for a couple of third rate players no wonder they are struggling ........meanwhile Whelan is lapping it up in his Caribbean mansion . Wigan folk love him though , thick stupid cunts.

Playing devils advocate here, but if the just-sacked Wigan manager was called Joe Bloggs and not Uwe Rosler, nobody would have batted an eyelid at his sacking yesterday.
They are in the bottom 3 in a league they expected to get out of the longest serving manager in that league is apparently Mick Mccarthy, who has been in post 2 years. Uwe knew what he was signing up for.
Personally I hope Wigan stay down as long as possible so that we don't have to listen to Whelan harping on about you know what.

...and how many times has that happened..
my guess is if Koeman continues doing well at southampton he'll jump ship and get the same treatment
Be careful what you wish for

I think that's fair comment.
Results aren't good enough. And Uwe walked out on Brentford, so there's no moral high ground to be taken here, ees football.
Whelan is a shite though.

It's just how things are though.
One manager can't get the results, they try another. Until someone gets it right. If he'd got them up, he'd probably be in trouble because they struggled to stay there, & be replaced by Tony Pulis.

Don't think Whelan would pay the money to get Pulis ted (although lower scale prem ) and also don't see Pulis and Whelan getting on lol ;-)

Sadly this was not a surprise when you look at their squad and poor form this season ...
