Sky Sports’ pitchside reporter Geoff Shreeves said: “Aguero appeared to be grimacing and holding his upper left leg, and he went straight down the tunnel after he left the field.

“City say it is definitely his left knee but that it was not an impact injury - it was caused moving away from the tackle.

"He is still being assessed and City say they won’t know the extent of the damage for two or three days. It sounds ominous.”

It'll be ligament damage I reckon, just depends how serious. Poor bloke looked like he knew it was the worst when he was in the form of his life.

Would gladly give back today's 3 pts if we could undo this injury. :(

Pellegrini confirms it is ligament damage and obviously he's out for Wednesday. An MRI scan is needed to to establish the extent of the injury but I'll be surprised if he plays again this month personally. Gutted obviously.

Gutted.

I guess it's time for Dzeko to step up again like he did last season.

Edin looked nowhere near fit. Lampard was more mobile.

He will take a little time to get to his best but that knock down from Lamps lovely chip should have seen us home and dry tonight.Shame Jimmy panicked a little, just about the only thing he did wrong all game.

Lampard must be one of the first names on the sheet for Roma.

City Watch report that Fernandinho was just rested and will be available and presumably play on Wednesday. Also Jovetic may be available too. Huge if true. I imagine Silva and Vinny will be on the bench at best though. A lot will depend on Nasri. He's playing well but has not got a record of stepping up to the plate in big matches. A real opportunity for him on Wednesday. Sergio gave them a chance by his hattrick against Bayern. They all need to pull together and win one for him on Wednesday.

Bugger, just when things were looking good. So, we'll have Edin, Jojo and Pozo. Is that enough or do we need to get a sneaky loan in?

I'm sure he's done his ACL don't you think?

Season over u believe. Best case April more likely see him in training camp.

Hope to fuck I'm wrong. Really down about this for him even more than the team aspect. He's a whisper away from that highest echelon and he goes and bloody does it again. His strength in those muscular legs are his biggest weakness. Sadly. Get well soon Kun.

Xxx

A non-impact knee ligament injury is always ominous.

As I sit in the North Stand I couldn't fully see how the injury occurred but having seen it on Sky it looks exceedingly worrying. Best case scenario is a medial or lateral collateral ligament that's maybe a 4-6 week job. ACL or PCL and its a season ender.

Hoping for the best.

Sergio's season eerily similar to last year; on fire in Nov/early December and basically unmarkable and then cut down by injury. From the injury he got against Arsenal last December he was in and out injured the rest of the way. Can only hope this isn't what it looks like.

Players often here a popping noise when they do their ACL but Sergio's tears may simply have been a reaction to pain and that he was going to be out for some time. When Michael Owen did his ACL in the World Cup it looked a lot worse but maybe I'm clutching at straws.

The only positive I can take at the moment is we let our most important player walk half way round the pitch. Surely he should have been taken off by stretcher or at least helped if he was at risk of making it worse.

So many medical staff coming on site to report the extent of the injury or are they just guessing? Why don't we just wait for the experts when they've carried out their examination. All these wild presumptions will not make it better and only serve to worry us more. The press will have a field day with it as it is as they are experts in everything as we know
