Under the new broadcasting deal 10 games will be shown live on Friday nights.
The new deal will see 44% of league games televised.

Its set to kick in as of the 16/17 season.Quite like the idea of a few beers and a match to watch on a Friday night to kick start the weekend. What do the rest of you reckon, good or bad idea?

I noticed today there is no midday game, if they can't even fill that spot, why would they bother with a friday night game?

I can see why it will be a problem for some fans but I used to love the Friday night games in the Championship.

I like a Friday night game. Curry and a few beers but I won't like it when it's City. I live about 25 miles away and it won't be easy to get to the game on time.

No thought given to away supporters. Bad idea.

Great on TV - pub or home, few beers etc. For the fans attending though, home or away...

Thanks for posting - like a number of others I was wondering why we hadn't done it sooner over here (I know in Germany they have matches on a Friday for TV).

As someone who sadly can't make it to games any more Friday night football is a great thing. It means I can watch even more football. The club will earn more revenue from it which helps.

However, on balance, I don't think it will benefit football fans who go to games. People have work commitments etc and it may just put some off attending altogether. Then club revenues from matchday income may go down if those fans are not replaced and there is no guarantee they will be.

Whether we like it or not, TV companies have the pipes and the piper calls the tune. It is here (from 2016/17) and it will be here to stay. Best get used to it I guess

Surely Friday night games will be harder for away fans.

It's only 10 fixtures all year so it's probably a couple of games max for any club.

From the perspective of the growing number of us blues in the Middle East, it is a shame that we get no football on the first day of our weekend, something that this move would address (albeit a late night kick off).

I can see why some would resist it, but surely a Friday is no different to any other week night for home fans. Shit for away fans though.
