at its lowest ever level?
highly likely at the end of the season that the top and bottom of the table will end up distorted by fuck ups from referees and their assistants
could argue that all teams are being affected (some more than most) but it's getting to the point where there are 3 or 4 major cock ups each week which is absolutely shocking

They are missing obvious things and getting a lot of big calls wrong such as giving yellows for being fouled in the box rather than penalties - it's as bad as I have ever known it

I think it is fast reaching the point where serious questions need to be asked about the majority of debateable decisions as the offside that wasn't given for us yesterday was an absolute joke and was a contributing factor in Burnley coming back in to it. Taking yesterday's match as an example; How is it that we received four yellows to Burnley's one? Fernando's yellow was especially suspect with Barnes for them getting away with murder at times.
Fortunately we have risen above it most times with the incredible performances the team has put in but it only highlights how inept most referees are and it probably needs sorting with a combination of technology and former professionals who have some experience of how a game actually transpires.

A stat that made the eyebrows raise following the Palace game wasn't the amount of passes we strung together but the fact that despite having 73%possession we managed to give away more than three times the amount of fouls that Palace did. Baffling.
As for the general standard, it's not going to improve as long as there is no accountability.

Our disciplinary record is remarkable. And yet I think we are more sinned against than sinning.
We always used to be told that the filth got big calls because they had the ball in attacking areas so often. Why isn't this happening for us?

As has been stated, until the referees are held accountable then there's fuckall going to happen.
The linesmen are fuckign worse this year than any other year in living memory.
I think video replays are needed on goals scored when its a dubious offside call and also managers should be able to fucking slate refs , but only after having had ample time to see the matches highlighted dodgy calls.
Refs know that they are untouchable in front of the cameras...about time that changed,

What would help would be refs and linesman being made to have a press conference after the game and explain their decisions. At the moment they are unnaccoutable and this is what leads to discrepancies imo.

The trouble with that Carl, is that the people doing the interpreting of video replays, will be the same ilk who allow Fellaini to get away with blatant elbowing, week in week out, without reviewing any of it, but send Vincent Kompany off for wining the ball perfectly cleanly & stand by the decision afterwards.
Things like key offside decisions are less open to misinterpretation tbf, & I am all for persistent divers being punished, but I would hate to be at the mercy of some panel, who decides which teams get pens etc .
It won't fucking be us who get the benefit of it, you can 100% guarantee that.

Fair point , thinking about it ,it actually might be worse.
I think refs should be sent to division 10 when they fuck up , one week for a shit decision and a month for fucking up a match winning decision.
The penalties they currently get are nowhere near severe enough.

The penaltys they currently get are nowhere near severe enough.
In the past, the most severe sanction was for upsetting Ferguson.
We have seen instances, where a really crap decision is made & then they show a replay, & it's a difficult one to give from his angle, but if it costs the rags 2 points, off he goes to Shrewsbury next game. Then another ref books Aguero for diving, instead of giving a nailed on pen, & it's two yards in front of him but his punishment is the same.
Surely there should be extra special punishment, for mind bogglingly shite decisions ? Then a ref who keeps getting extra sanctions, is rated down, & fired ?
Everybody makes mistakes, but as it stands, it doesn't appear there is any sanction for being consistently fucking shite on major decisions.

I'm not sure things were ever better. A lot of the problem is that we all know the truth because there are so many camera's and angles these days. However in real time, even watching on the tele, never mind at the game I find myself contesting decisions that are proved by the camera to be correct. Awful decisions are pretty randomly distributed. Look at the penalty denied Leicester v Spurs. Wrongful goal v Burnley but the header v Palace was a fecking mile onside and Cliché coming back was right in front of the lino.Think its just getting harder myself.

The Fuss over that compared to the Aguero incident is a fucking joke. Borinho has played everyone. Expect a big decision to go thier way in the near future.
That's where Bobby and Manuels class ends up going against the club, we're seen as a soft touch because we don't complain enough.

i dont think asking refs questions after the match is gonna achieve anything, it will give sky more headlines, eg, up next why mason did,nt give the stonewaller for utd, and when it doesnt suit their agenda they will ignore it. simple thing to do is mike the refs and lino,s up let the players know anything they say will also be picked up, should stop them effing and jeffing in the officials faces, also the three officials must work as a team and communicate with each other over big decisions. get rid of the stupid red and yellow cards another thing brought in for tv, never needed them before 2 yellows equals a red a complete joke, you can appeal a straight red, but not 2 yellows, definitely bent situation, also bring in a sin bin same as rugby league for 5 mins.
put the time keeper seperate from the ref, clock stops for any kind of serious delay which will get rid of any injury time, and thats about that, far to simple for the knobheads who run football.

If Mario had done what Raymond did last night he would have been sent off. It was a clear red card in the current climate but seeing as Liverpool are back I'm guessing they didn't want to upset their flow...
