Looked like there were far less empty seats at the end than for a typical Prem game today...

People also stayed in numbers until final whistle
Wish I could've been there

That's what I meant. Attendance 44,309, as well. Allowing for the 6K visitors, that's 38,000 City fans, and I'd guess the stadium was over 90% full at the final whistle, compared to around 65-70% for most league games.

Hardly surprising though. We were attacking and looking for a winner.
Most people leave early say when we are 2/3 up and just passing the ball around and the game's petered out.

Or the lack of atmosphere.

I wonder if the fact that 6,000 seats had been taken by Wednesday fans had anything to do with it?

That still means that 38K in attendance were City fans - with 90% (at a guesstimate) staying to the end, that means we had 34K home fans in the stadium at full time; far more than for the majority of games this season.

Great attendances these days. I've sat in amongst 19,000 others for the FA Cup against the likes of Leicester etc.

We played Wigan in the cup a few years back 'shock horror' and we closed the top tiers it's great to see so many turning out for cup games.

I remember it well. It was my one and only time in the Colin Bell. Talk about a library, the only entertainment was Psycho's antics in his technical area.

Even more shock horror, we actually beat Wigan in the FA Cup that day too.
