1-0 down already. Dodgey ball played out of defence intercepted...shot....goal.
We've seen that before.
The pitch looks terrible. The ball is bobbling all over the place.

Just looked back in, in time to see City equalise. They look to be playing the exact same way all the youth teams do, which is comforting.

Half time 1-1. Must be 20 mins per half.
From the bit I've seen City are knocking it around nicely and if the pitch was better, i think we would be winning this. The ball isn't running true.

2-1 penalty after a good block and break away by our no7, cynical trip by the defender, lucky to get away with a yellow. Although cards are rare at this level

Penalty. 2-1 City. The kid made it by putting the left FB under pressure, robbing him and heading straight for the box.

looked small too like it was a 2/3rds of a pitch, I have seen park pitches better than that

I suppose someone was bound to ask. Doug, twosips, Ted, bro...

What's your assessment of George Evans? Was this his Danny Mills moment or is there something to this lad?

My gut tells me he won't quite make it at City but you should read Twosips blog report on the Toronto game. He is a talented footballer and re the Danny Mills comparison I would say he is miles more talented than Danny and this sort of moment with the class goal is not a once in a lifetime thing.

He has been on loan now to two clubs and I think done ok at both without really getting rave reviews. His recent games for the EDS have been at center back which is not his true position.Whether Vieira plays him there for experience or whether he really thinks he should play there I don't know.

He reads the game well usually has a good first touch and is a good passer of the ball whether short or long. And he does it all with little fuss and seemingly strolling. As a center back my worry would be either against a really quick player or a really big player as he is neither fast nor particularly strong. I suppose that could be said of the majority of players but I do not have the same concerns say with either Humprhreys or Adarabyio who play center back and are both under 18's.

In central midfield the same issues would be there of course against quick and strong players but also especially against team that really press hard. Would his classy languid style stand the test of being really pressured? That I don't know having not played that position in recent memory for City. But in that role we would see the full benefit of his passing ability as well as the shooting qualities which we saw more of the other night.

Could he be one of those players whose game lifts and develops with class around him? Very possibly but will we give him a chance in that role in City's first team? Maybe the pre season will tell us more.

Of course fighting for similar roles are George Glendon, Jack Byrne and Kean Bryan. 3 very talented central midfield players with a claim to playing central midfield. And that's not to mention Fofana and Ntcham although they are much more the attacking box to box type of midfield player.

Doug just about summed it up perfectly there. As he mentioned too I did write a few words on him in here - http://inesteemedkompany.blogspot.co.uk ... h.html?m=1

I like Evans and I don't think we'll ever know his full potential unless we give him a chance. Honestly don't think we will sadly

Do we realistically think any of these kids will be given a chance?
Putting Gunn on the bench to get no time behind Hart doesnt count either.

I do. We will get a little insight from the pre season games as to which names are likely but I expect Pellers to use quite a few of the young lads. I really believe Denayer will be fully involved next season along with Iheanacho. A few others will start to get on the bench and bits of game time. Maybe Lopes if he isn't put out for another year and that might well the question for quite a few. Will they go on loan or stay at City.

On Angus Gunn I rate him very very highly but I would 100% expect him to go on a season long loan before coming back and being a realistic challenger to Joe. Whether he would stay then as a number two would be interesting.

Do we realistically think any of these kids are good enough to be given a chance?

We all know that there is a massive step up from the EDS to the 1st team and I wonder some times if we are overhyping these kids. Barker looks like a gem of a player, Nacho looks 1st team ready. But are they? How many times have we been wrong about players who, at an under level looked destined to star in the first team, that just failed to make the leap?

2.1 now as they scored from a direct free kick. typically looking dodgy now as our keeper had to make a very special save.

3.1 now and another Sancho inspired goal. The lad is a real talent.

Classic stuff this. It seems that every City youth team looks smaller and much less physical than the opposition but play great football with excellent individuals and a quality team. The future is good.
