18's cup game v Reading this morning and a pretty tough encounter it was. A few new(ish) names to look at including my first look at Tommy Doyle. He is a very combative midfielder, reminds me a lot of Matt Smith ( that's a positive). Worked his socks off but rarely any room to look up and play and he did find it hard but looks a decent player finding his way at this over age group for him. Loves a tackle and looks to play key passes but I think it will take a while before he starts to really get his game established at this level.

Our front 3 were Poveda, Simmonds and Ogundby and I think all 3 are wingers.Ogundby was off side too much ruining some good situations, Simmonds didn't have his touch today and lost the ball too easily and Poveda was the pick for me with his quick feet and good runs. Nmecha (Felix) really struggled to get involved and also gave the ball away too much.

Pozo in the holding role was pretty good along with Doyle and the defence were largely ok led by Eric Garcia who was captain. Rosler alongside him ( with Uwe stood behing me watching) was good and brought the basll out from defence quite impressively at times. Jeremy Frimpong at right back I really liked. Not a big lad but quite feisty and not at all intimidated by bigger players. Defended well and attacked well.

Reading went ahead and it has to be down to some sloppy defending, just not sure who to blame, but as the ball went looping in the air nobdoy attacked it so it was allowed to bounce and then get volleyed in off the keeper from a very tight angle. We dod attack a lot in the 2nd half and had real chances especially one for Touazi ( he came on for Simmonds) who took a tough too many when it looked like he had to score.

The equalizer was a pen in the end for hand ball ( ref very certain and he booked the guy) and Nmecha took it with extreme confidence. Maybe a fair result but a rad disappointing.

Also I thought it was a very physical game and as ever they looked a more mature, developed side. Just the sort of experience these lads need.

I always thought Angus was destined to make it at a very high level and it's looking like that won't be at City because of bad timing. If he had been a year or more older with some real quality experience he may well have been our number 1 last season instead of Bravo.

Now with Ederson in and looking quality it's hard to see how Angus makes our first team amd I think he is too good to sit as a number 2.

Sancho turned out for Dortmund today in their 1-3 home defeat by Spuds. So no Champions League for him tonight...

Dortmund will be away to Real Madrid in the final game of the group with, I believe, Real needing to win in order to progress at the expense of Dortmund.

Tough game yesterday and I reckon we were lucky to come away with a draw. Feyenoord really troubled us when they attacked and were unlucky twice to hit the post. We did have plenty of the ball and especially second half looked decent but we just lacked something going forward without the best talents of Diaz , Foden and Nmecha.

Our attacking players were Gonzalez down the middle and Mattondo, Garre wide. I thought Gonzalez did quite well with little real support. Mattondo struggled to get involved enough even though his pace was a threat but he got injured quite earlt which buggered that up. Garre looks good but he just doesnt have the one on one ability so isnt that effective in making things happen.

Backing them up were Richards and Tom Dele Bashiru. Both good players but neither were influencing the game much in the first half so we were a bit sterile. At the back we had Eric Garcia on the right, Tyreke Wilso left and in the center Ash Kigbu and Lattibeaudierre. Kigbu has had plenty of injuries in the last year or so so it was nice to see him back but sadly he had a mare and his mistakes were creating most of the Feyenoord chances. He didn't come out for the 2nd half but I hope he isnt injured again. It was also ny first chance to see Curtis Anderson in goal fresh from winning the 17's world cup. Not a massive presence like Muric but I liked what I saw and his saves massively helped get us the draw.

Wilson is ok but offers little going forward. Latti and Garcia I thought were excellent. So we switched to 3 at the back for the second half. Overall it worked ok even if we had a scare or two but we dominated the ball better and started to see at least Tom Dele influence the game more. Also the intro of Touaizi down the middle was a plus. I really like this guy.

But we didn't score! Plenty of good situations but lacking the final pass or finish. Overall a decent nil nil game.

I was impressed by what Gonzalez did in possession - touches and runs. Was that game representative of how he plays?

He does play like that all the time but not always with the same level of success. His first touch was a bit better than usual so it wasnt bouncing off him as can happen. He's an all action player with a decent scoring knack. Tevez like maybe.

I like the look of Nmecha. He looks a natural goal scorer to me.
