That was fun! Two games at the CFA and 2 good wins and 4 goals in each game and in both we came from behind.
The 18's game might have been 4.1 but in reality was a lot closer than that. 1 down early on we came back very well to rake the lead but then a penalty for them should have made it 2.2. Two under 17 world cup winners involved and Gomes hit the ball as far over the bar as I have ever seen a penalty missed.

We went straight down the other end and missed a great chance but then scored the 3rd very quickly after. Utd are (were) top of the league, 2 points ahead of City but with us having 2 games in hand. Now I am guessing we are top with 2 games in hand. 4 .1 sounds like we bossed it but we didn't. I would expect Utd had at least 60% of possession in the 2nd half maybe up to 70% and they did create chances but somehow they never worried me that they would score.

Some misses a save or two and some good blocks. We did have some great situations on the break and should have scored more than the 1 we got. That from a corner with Garcia heading in ( I think as people got up in front of me)

I like the look of Garcia a lot and now that's 2 goals as well in the lest 2 games. Both full backs impressed me today. Corrigan and Frimpong and Iker Pozo also did well at the base of midfield and yet Utd as I said had plenty of the ball and looked as good as any team I have seen against us at this level. All good and I believe the 16's also beat Utd.

So onto the EDS and we go down early on there as well. Two down in fact and both stemming from needless free kicks given away. Great strike for their first one. Foden not overly involved for a while, Diaz looking a threat but nothing serious until suddenly and excellent pass ( Dele Bashiru I think) to Foden who took it well in hisstride, if a bit wide before his excellent finish into the top corner pulled a goal back.

We looked better from then and looked like we could win. Diaz was frightening the life out of them with some great runs and one ended with a perfect pass to Nmecha tp slam into the roof of the net. Top finish. Then a good team passing move out to Dilrosun who crossed well to the back post for Nmecha to climb above his marker and head home. Not often we see that type of goal from City.

The 4th was a penalty after a great driving run from Dele Bashiru saw him brought down by at least 2 defenders. Never a doubt that Nmecha would get his hat trick. This boy is a real goalscorer.

Can't really think of anyone who didnt play ok today. Diaz really is a gem with his darting runs and sometimes its hard to understand why he doesnt score more. Maybe not selfish enough at times when he should pull the trigger he tries to find a team mate.

u18s are one point ahead of Everton & United with 2 games in hand. Liverpool 4th three points behind City but the same number of games.

u23s are mid-table, Spurs bottom and United currently occupying the second relegation spot but it's all very tight down there.

Even better. I was talking with the Norwegian manager ( 21's I think and over to watch Rosler) and he said utd were top by 2.

Just seen a tweet from Tommy Doyle something like great win in the derby, that's for you grandad. Love it

Tommy ran his heart out today and it wasn't a great surprise when he was subbed with 20 or so minutes to go. I don't think he had anything left to give. Talented lad. Broke plenty of attacks up with great interceptions, played a great pass to set Ogundby free to set up the first goal and crossed the ball for Rosler's goal.

None of these will be playing tomorrow.

D. Grimshaw
T. Adarabioyo
E. Francis
J. Latibeaudiere
J. Davenport
Brahim Diaz
P. Foden
T. Richards
T. Dele-Bashiru
J. Dilrosun
L. Nmecha

Kompany, Delph, Fernandinho, Sane, Jesus and Silva are all virtually certain to return tomorrow. Foden, Diaz & Tosin wouldn't have dislodged Aguero, Gundogan, Bernardo, Yaya, Danilo or Mangala from the bench.

This is very unlucky for the lad

The ex Barca player? Maybe trying to get the lad we signed from them to go back to Spain?

That was my first thought but I doubt that's a possibility. Maybe just over to say hello to old friends

If they play well and aren't too knackered, let's hope they get a game tonight!

Think it's 1-1 at the start of the second half

Interesting that Latibeaudiere is not in the u19s squad. Means he can play for the first team. He was training with the first team yesterday.

Pep might spring a few surprises

The day started badly yesterday with the EDS falling 1 nil to Arsenal and it could easily have been more as we were basically crap. Yes Arsenal were an older bigger team but that's the norm and I do wonder how much the manager contributes to poor performances like this?

I don't think I have ever seen Diaz so ineffective for a whole game and it was the same with Nmecha who was largely bullied out of the game from start to finish. On the wings Matondo couldnt get into the game and whilst Dilrosun did play quite well and offered a threat at times it didn't really come to anything.

The midfield was Smith, Davenport mainly holding and Diaz in front as a number 10 and it just didn't happen. Arsenal pressed hard and we just didnt seem to have answers. Smith didn't last long and seemed to be ill or something and Davenport, although playing reasonably well defensively offered little on the ball.

At the back we did ok considering Arsenal dominated but it was probably a mixture of poor finishing and last ditch blocks which kept the score down. Tosin and Latibeaudierre I thought were decent in the center and keeper Muric also.

Strangely in the last 10 or 15 minutes I think Arsenal got a bit sloppy and we broke on them a number of times and could have scored but we just couldn't find the right final pass. Diaz ,sub Taylor Richards, Nmecha all guilty but overall a poor performance and a deserved defeat.

So it was over to the swamp to cheer me up ::))

Maybe an after-effect of the midweek trip to Ukraine?

I would think Pep would see more benefit having Foden with the squad for the big scum game than playing an EDS match. Also good to see Danny Grimshaw there in the middle of it all. 2 real blues.
