I think this might give Jovetic the chance to play alongside Silva and behind Aguero instead of being the focal point of the attack, it might just do him the world of good.

I think so too. Jovetic could take Nasri's place in the line up. My only concern would be that he doesn't retain the ball as well as Nasri

FFS, disgusting timing, what a blow. We are rubbish when Milner and Navas are in the same side. We'll play a possession based game with 4-5 players in the side who are not possession footballers. Honestly expecting to drop points in both games now unless Aguero completely carries us with a couple of amazing performances.

Do you want to have a rethink about 'rubbish with Milner and Navas' ?

Since Kun and then Edin got injured,we have won most games and drawn two.

The results and performances contradict your comments.

Jovetic does things with the ball that nasri wouldn't try in a million years. Oddly if we had Balo here with Jojo we might find these two as the perfect complement. Very unique footballers who see the game very differently than most.

Cheers

I agree with the first part of that. Nasri keeps the ball by going sideways and backwards the majority of the time. Jovetic tries to make things happen but loses the ball more often.

This injury ensures Milner won't be going anywhere in January for certain as with Toure AWOL at some daft nondescript, no-one gives a shite about tournament, we are down to the bare minimum in midfield numbers.

4-2-3-1 beckons with Aguero largely up top, and Jovetic coming into play as one of the 3 behind on occasion if injuries bite further. Silva needs wrapping in cotton wool.

4-4-2 Aguero&JoJo up front, Silva/Fern/Fern/Navas in the midfield
4-5-1 Drop JoJo from above, add Lampard
3-5-2 Kompany/Demi/Mangler at the back, Kolarov and Zabs as wingbacks, Fern/Fern/Silva in the middle, Aguero/JoJo up front.

Yeah, no other option.

He mightn't have put his point across well regarding the 'rubbish' part, but I happen to think that he has a point. I don't think the problem is Milner and Navas, though.
I think we will miss Nasri more than we expect, for the reasons he states, pretty much because Yaya is not around either. It's true we play a lot of sideways balls when Nasri is in the team, but the short pass game that we play in midfield, between Nasri Yaya and Silva, retains possession which keeps pressure off our defense. I think Silva not having anyone around him on the same wavelength puts a lot of pressure on him to come up with something special. Losing one of the three, we can cope with, Losing two, puts a strain on the type of game we want to play.

Milner just wasn't a threat at all when he was on , at least Navas got crosses in the box.

I think the set up was ok apart from having Kompany back in the side and Milner on the left , all it should have taken was for Pelle to instruct Navas to get the ball into the area as quickly as possible - Aguero and co only had to focus on being in that killing area when Navas was on the ball. Silva would have played more balls to the left if Kolorov was playing.

I agree with much of that and think we are much weaker without Nasri and Yaya. The possession thing is funny though - Arsenal only had 35% possession and only 3 shots on target but they seemed to win at a canter. The difference I suppose was the quality of play. They broke at pace and showed great technique, a contrast to Milner for e.g. Nasri and Yaya have quality that our back up playrrs don't.

INCORRECT. NAVAS DID NOT MAKE ONE SUCCESSFUL CROSS INTO THE BOX. 18 FAILED CROSSES.

Jesus Navas's game by numbers vs. Arsenal:

18 failed crosses
0 take-ons completed
1 key pass
74% pass accuracy.
