It was a really good game with nothing between the teams and his snidey actions could have cost us big time. They probably still will because he will get a ban.

True, Costa will be a big miss, but I think Fabregas is the bigger miss IMO (if he doesnt make it). Drogba and Remy will be able to cover Costa, we are the only difficult game you have in the next 3.

That was my second favourite team at the time, as a little kid. Osgood, Charlie Cook etc. Ian Hutchinson with his showoff windmill action long throw thingy. Ron Chopper Harris (dirty twat).

If Costa is missing Mourinho may go into boring mode & it may actually work in Chelsea's favour with a set piece goal or something, is my worry.

But tbh I think a draw is ok for us if he plays it like that. I think we just want to keep in touch for now. But Pellegrini will probably attack whatever.

I suspect if the FA do ban Costa, Chelsea will appeal to make him available to play against us, even if it means an increased ban for a frivolous appeal.

Apparently there is a "fast-track" system in place to stop this very thing happening. If he is charged, he will not play against us.

I personally think he won't get banned.

Where's the paranoia thread gone?

Funnily enough I was an admirer of the great City team of very early 70s. Corrigan, Book, Donachie, Bell, Young, Lee and Summerbee etc. I was only 9 or 10 but loved watching that team.

Referee Michael Oliver will make the decision on whether Diego Costa should be charged with violent conduct over either of his two apparent stamps during Chelsea's win against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup.

The FA is aware of the controversy following the 1-0 semifinal second-leg win at Stamford Bridge -- which saw Chelsea through to the final 2-1 on aggregate -- and is waiting for Michael Oliver's report.

Oliver will be asked by the FA whether he or any of the officials saw the incident and if they did not, then to judge from video replays whether either of the incidents were straight red-card offences.

If the referee believes either was a red-card offence then the Spain international will be charged with violent conduct and dealt with under the fast-track system.

It would mean that if he is found guilty any three-match ban would see Costa miss Chelsea's game against title rivals Manchester City at the weekend and the matches against Everton and Aston Villa -- and there is no right of appeal.

However, PA Sport reports that it is unlikely he will face two violent conduct charges.

As the Capital One Cup is a Football League competition, the disciplinary process differs slightly from a Premier League match where a three-man panel of former referees would decide whether he should be charged.

Costa was accused by Liverpool of stamping on Emre Can at Stamford Bridge and then a further stamp on Martin Skrtel.

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho has insisted that both stamps were "absolutely accidental," while Liveprool boss Brendan Rodgers described the striker's actions as "poor."

Skrtel may also face censure from the FA, according to The Sun, which claims the Liverpool defender was seen directing an obscene gesture toward the home supporters during the game.

There is a small contingent who think they'll appeal so he can play on the weekend and any fast tracking will be merely because they have it out for Chelsea.

They are in 1st and in one cup final, if they truly believe there is a conspiracy against them, the conspirators must not be doing a very good job.

So pretty much like it is on here in similar circumstances then!

Oh, I don't know mate. If one of our players had done the same I'm fairly positive that the majority would be wincing and expect a ban.

Diego Costa charged over stamp on Emre Can against Liverpool

Diego Costa has been charged with violent conduct over one of two apparent stamps during Chelsea's win against Liverpool in the Capital One Cup.

The FA was aware of the controversy following the 1-0 semifinal second-leg win at Stamford Bridge -- which saw Chelsea through to the final 2-1 on aggregate -- and was waiting for referee Michael Oliver's report.

However, the FA has now revealed in a statement: "Diego Costa has been charged by The FA for violent conduct following an on-field incident which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video.

"The charge is in relation to an incident involving the Chelsea forward and Liverpool's Emre Can which occurred in the 12th minute of the League Cup semi-final second leg at Stamford Bridge last night [Tuesday 27 January 2015].

"The player has until 6pm on Thursday 29 January 2015 to respond to the charge.

"Following a review of an incident during the game involving Costa and Liverpool's Martin Skrtel, The FA will not be taking any further action."
