What are your thoughts?

I'm not talking historically, as Messi has a longer history than Agüero than being one of the world's best players. I'm talking about who is better on any given day. I mean the easy answer would be Messi but he's not performed on Agüero's level in teh national team and he's been playing in a league where Garrido was considered a proper defensive prospect and he had Iniesta and Xavi at their peaks providing him with balls to run onto and the world's biggest transfer kitty buying him talented team mates every year. Agüero was awesome in Atletico but he took it to a completely different level when he came here, the mugger's alley as Ted describes it, and he's got a knack to pull out us of sticky situations when the team's underperforming, like, every year in the CL it feels like.

I'm going with Agüero. Just edging it. To be controversial. To be totally honest however, I think it's a coin toss. Am I the only one?

Messi all day long, the fella is the best player I have ever seen play the game. IMO he is better than Maradona, never really saw Pele play. Zidane was my all time best player until Messi took that title. I dont think Sergio is anywhere near as good as him, however, on his day, Aguero can be magical too.

I love Sergio but its not even close mate. Seriously.

Messi has performed better than Aguero has in the national team! He carried em in the world cup with wonder goals!

Messi for me is the greatest ever. His ability to manipulate a ball is better than anyone in the world. His ability to see a pass in better than anyone in the world too.

Messi is in the top 2 or 3 in the history of football

Aguero hasn't done enough to even put him in the top 20 strikers in the same time frame. He may do one day, he has time on his side.

But if he had a Herman Munster head like tevez, we wouldn't even be having this discussion....half of the allure of Aguero is that he looks the part of the superstar, beyond that Tevez was a far better player when not on the golf course

Actually it's pretty fucking embarrassing, let's compare probably the best player ever to play the game against Aguero. Really?

This for me aswell . Embarrassing thread , can't compare the two players it is ridiculous . Only contribution I will make is the fact Aguero is the best striker in the English Premier League , has won two titles an FA Cup and a Carling Cup ............. Messi hasn't !

I'm so offended that i will be ringing the police and informing my lawyer of this hate crime towards young Leo if the title isn't edited.

Aguero is a brilliant player, but Im sorry even with my most blue tinted specs on he isn't in Messi's stratosphere in terms of their natural ability, achievement, what they can do with the ball, how they've affected big games, goals scored, goals set-up and just about every category you can think of.

If you think Aguero is better than Messi then you need to have a word with yourself and get back to reality.

Whats next I wonder - Bony is better than Ronaldo perhaps? Demichelis better than Pique maybe. There's biased and then there's a whole new level and this is on it.

As much as i like serg, this is a complete non argument.

Looked like slightly plum Wilfried to me on Saturday. Looks like hes no stranger to a Hot Dog either - looked shorter and fatter than he ever did in a Swansea shirt.

I love aguero really do, but i think tevez was better for us than aguero, now if aguero keeps going as he is he will overtake him but as things stand tevez the best ever striker i have seen at city.

I know this is not answering the question in the thread but if I could go back 5 years and bring Messi to City instead of Yaya, I would not do it. Yaya is the most influential player I have ever seen. Who knows if messi would be nearly as effective in the Prem. If Serg had not had his injuries maybe the "voting" on here would be a lot closer. For the record, I like this thread.
