Liverpool next - what formation?

Postby Wonderwall » Wed Feb 25, 2015 5:19 pm

With Liverpool and the master tactician and genius that bodger is, his 3-4-3 formation has had some pretty fuclin good results. I thought the 2-0 against southampton was very lucky and they were poor against them. However, I am thinking 4-5-1 or 4-3-3? Its a bit of a mind boggler as I am not sure if 4-4-2 would work against this set up?

Bodgers has rested some key players for the Besiktas - Coutinho & Henderson are rested and have not travelled and Gerrard is not being risked after coming back from Injury.

Same team / formation as v Newcastle last Saturday . We have to defend better for this game there is no getting away with that issue , real concerns over Vinny,s and Zabba,s form but attacking wise we look to be right back on it . If Sterling plays a full game tomorrow night in Turkey there is a possibility he won't start on Sunday , Brodge tends to wrap him in cotton wool so who knows , Sturridge not yet fully match fit ? Could be a good time to play them ......... we will see but a must win game for us !

I say we play with our "4-4-2" and make them worry about us. the lads need to be up for it though or we find ourselves 2 down in first twenty minutes.

oh, and I'm putting a fiver on Sturridge to score at any time. that's a no brainer for me

Last time we played them we all said stop sterling and you're half way they. This time the same applies to coutino. He's been class, take him out and we should pick them off regardless of formation.

This.

Whatever formation we play, if we pass the ball well & work hard then we probably win. Last season was almost a replica of the Barca performance; awful defending, everyone miles off the pace, then suddenly attitude changed & got on top, could have won but fucked up again; Vinny heavily involved in costing us the game.

I don't really care what the formation is, so long as we actually play football properly.

Navas and Bony should play for me. If Liverpool plays a diamond we need to attack the wings. Markovic isnt a defender so Navas could exploit him.

Don't care about formation. We need a 95 minute effort with total commitment and determination, not a 45 minute one.
It's simple, If we do that we will win.

solid and do not lose it after 10 mins. Have the bollocks to change it if we are rabbits in the headlights again. Pellers biggest game of the season.

We need to press them like Barcelona second half from the start , they have shit backline and Lovren who will play is insecure and week spot. Iwould go 442 , we need wins and Bony or Dzeko i don't care just need put effort.

Given our past 10 years of trips to Anfield which basically makes Goodison look like a happy hunting ground, and our recent patchy form and that some of our best players aren't playing well, there is little the suggest that we will win on Sunday.

Would love to see it, but I just cant. Bravado about us winning is all well and good but in the real world we never get fucl all at this place, and have gone there with better sides and in better form and struggled to scrape a draw.

Formation wise, Id play Aguero up top, Silva behind him with Nasri, Milner, Ya Ya and Fernandinho across a convential midfield four.

Sagna at right back, Clichy at left, with Kompany and Mangala as a pair which I would leave together for the next 10 games so they can forge a partnership; we keep pissing around with our centre halves and it aint good. Pick Mangala with Kompany and stick with it please. Hart in goals obviously - Fernando can collect the bibs and make sure the Tea is brewed for half-time.

LOL love your last sentence, but its harsh.
Yes shit record there, but that has to change, were due a break there.
I firmly believe that if we pull the finger out and work bloody hard, we are better and will get a win.

I'd start Wilfried because Skrtel has a thing about kicking Edin all the time and it does rattle Edin. He never gets the call.
Bring Edin on later to get the 2nd yellow for Skrtel.

I never want players to get injured but hopefully they'll have a dodgy kebab later and will miss our game due to illness.

I said it , Lovren is a week link . Worst buy of Liverpool nd if they play with 3 at back with him we need to press them hard .
