Manchester City have signed 14-year-old Jadon Sancho from Watford for a fee rising up to £500,000.

Sancho, an England Under-15 international, will continue his development at the Blues' state-of-the-art City Football Academy.

The teenager wrote on Twitter: "Thank You For Everything Watford! Hello MCFC. Very Happy to be Joining Such a Great Club."

Watford inserted a 10 per cent sell-on clause in Sancho's contract, while the youngster's transfer fee will be dependent on appearances in a blue shirt.

Already a Nike client, Sancho will be hoping to follow in the footsteps of other famous Watford academy graduates, such as Luther Blissett, John Barnes and Ashley Young.

I'm sure this 14 year old kid isn't dreaming of being the next Ashley Young. He's definitely not thinking 'i'd like to be Luther Blissett or John Barnes' too.....

I could be wrong but I don't believe that's what's being implied in the article. My take on it is that the writer believes he hopes to make it as a pro footballer the same way these other guys that came from Watford's academy did.

I was being relatively facetious.

Anyway - like most im wary of big name 14 year old signings. Especially when they're English. Our academy set up is fantastic but id also be surprised if he played for the first team eventually.

My apologies then, facetiousness isn't always easy to pick up on on forums ( well that's my excuse anyway ).

I've seen nothing of this kid so wouldn't have a scooby of the likelihood or otherwise of him making it. I'm still sure however that he hopes he will.

How many times have we seen a news like this?

City signed wonderkid Suarez from Yaba-daba-doo United or new best defender of his age, John Qwasi Modo. I think monthly we are served with a news like this, however, how many of them have really good chances of playing here?

We had Denis Suarez, saw him at Sevilla, he looks really good. We had Lopes, saw him in Lille vs Lyon, he was splendid. We are in the 7th year of our new board and we failed to promote a kid in the team, a kid that can make a difference. And i am worried about that.

I'll eat my virtual hat if none of the u18s team that played last night don't make our first team, Mr Parker.

Also Lopes and Denayer will play for us. I'm pretty certain of that too.

Really would love to see more younger players given an opportunity at appropriate times. Its very important.

Not yet eligible. Will be soon as he's just turned 16 - has to wait for some legal shit before he can play for us now.
