Contract extension signed until the end of next season. Just announced.
Guess this means maybe just Boyata out and Denayer in?

Suggests the Count is staying next season.
He's a great player to have at the club. If Denayer lives up to promise, & Mangala improves, he may not play so often, but that doesn't matter. He's there if we need him. He effectively replaced Lescott in that respect & had he not done so, we would not have won the title, as Nastasic was a waste of space. Good to have that fall back option.

Interesting observation Ted, how did you come by that theory if you don't mind me asking?
(For the record, i don't think he is going anywhere, regardless of this seasons outcome).

I'm pleased for daft martin. I think he deserves that. He's probably been our best defender this season.

Because it stands to reason that if you were thinking of sacking a manager, you wouldn't hire his 34 year old mate taking up an overseas squad place, & adding x amount to the wage bill, for the next manager to deal with. You would put it off on the excuse you want to sort out the books & will sort it at the end of the season, or something. Pellegrini has asked for Demichelis to be given a deal to make sure he can keep him at the club for next season & they have agreed to it.

Fair enough or it could be just simpler to extend MDM for another year whilst they look at bedding Denayer in to the 1st team? Kind of overlap if you will....
I notice The Counts agent has been quoted this morning about his future.

Chuffed. Should have started most games for us this season, haircut permitting.

A new manager may want to sign a couple of centre backs & probably wouldn't give a fuck about Denayer, or any other kids. Which is why I hope the Count does stay in a job.
His agent just said he expects to see out his contract, but if the brass changed their minds & he got fired, he'd possibly fancy somewhere like Napoli (but that Pelegrini has specifically told him not to talk about stuff like that, so why he's doing it fuck knows).

Demichelis clearly thinks Pellegrinis here till 2016 then. It would seem that way anyway.
Worthwhile. Denayer in as fourth cent half poss and Boyata out seems to be the sentiment here. As Id rather nail my testicles to a plank of wood than watch Glasgow Celtic play, I assume hes done well for them in the SPL and Europa League? I genuinely haven't seen nearly enough of the kid to have an opinion on his abilities.

I would say he is a shoe in for their YPOTY and in contention for their POTY as well so far. I have two Celtic mad Glaswegian friends, they are going nuts about Denayer and want to sign him permanently, although I have already calmed them down and told them they have more chance of signing Messi! They were all for Guidetti until the last two months and are not so keen anymore.

Glad to hear this. Excellent cover at the very least. Has outperformed Vinny on the whole this year, though I think Vinny is just off form and will regain his accustomed levels of class.
As others have said, maybe promote Denayer and ship wage thief Boyata off somewhere. Perhaps a Belgian team would give us a box of chocolates for him or some such.
I echo the above sentiment (testicles, plank) as to watching Celtic. But from EDS matches I saw in the past and the odd Europa League fixture this year, it looks to me that Denayer may be the sort of athletic, front-foot defender we'd want for our style of play. I'd much rather see him with some potential upside than Boyata (who clearly has none) or Rekik, who I think is too slow to be an optimal fit in the system.
