Could we be forced to change the badge back?

I know many have wanted to change back to the old badge, however, action is already being taken against Scottish side Airdrieonians, who have received a letter warning them to get a new badge or face prosecution. Top football clubs on both sides of the border could be at risk of losing their historic badges – because they break a 500-year-old law.

Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Dundee and Ross County are just five of the dozens of sides potentially falling foul of ancient heraldry legislation which demands that no letters or numbers are used in shield-shaped crests.

Its not a wind up either, will be interesting if this moves south of the border!

Prefer the old badge myself with the rose at the bottom.

That law is feckin barmy though.

This situation is beyond belief.

Looks as though there could be some lawyers rubbing their hands at the thought of ridiculous court cases coming their way.

Perhaps the 'powers' of these 'heraldic guardians' should be removed completely, in the interests of everyday common sense.

Why we have a golden eagle on our badge I have no idea, as not one has been spotted in the Manchester area in the last 100 years or so. We might as well have a rag on there as well, using that criterion.

We could have a mockingbird. The Americans love them.

Check out the badges of Melbourne and NYCFC. Would surely make sense for all 3 to have some sort of similarity in corporate branding, so the eagle may be getting close to shuffling off this mortal coil. Hopefully.

We could replace it with a pigeon, smoking a spliff... and coughing.

Hope that doesn't appear to be too holistically heraldic as well, otherwise we are still likely to be transgressing supposed ancient logo/badge determinants.

Ps whoever did this deserves a pound or two.

I like this but the initials and the club name together kind of labour the point. Either have one or the other.

I'd personally remove the MCFC thing but whoever did it was clearly just trying to fill a block of colour.

I'd make the middle line thinner but whoever did it was just trying to tie it into the other clubs of the 'city' brand.

Wouldn't bother me in the slightest, never took to the current badge with its inexplicable stars and eagle action

In the mists of time my memory plays tricks. Why did we change from the old badge?
