Is this setting the precedent for future? Where's the line drawn? Does every ref mistake mean the match should be replayed. Crazy

Completely understand it. It's as if the ref lost their mind and decided to prevent a team from equalising.

Agenda, maybe?

Brown envelope, maybe?

or just a massive fuck up by the ref?
what's weird is that they are going to play the last 3 mins of injury time at 2145
why wait until that late in the day???

So the ref doesn't actually know the rules?

I take it that they are going to retake the penalty kick and from there onwards.

Yep they are going to play the remaining few seconds or so. It's a farce. Understand the ref has made a cock up. A big one. But where does this end. If something is clearly offside should that be replied. Madness if you ask me.

The ref has been sent home and a different ref will do the game.

As I understand it, it's because the referee, and the other officials, failed to employ the correct rules of the game. It's not quite the same as making the wrong decision, like wrongly guessing an offside call.

When a penalty is being taken, if player from either team, encroaches into the box before the ball is struck, the rules state that the penalty should be re-taken. This didn't happen in this case. The ref awarded a freekick to Norway because it was an England player who encroached. This clear lack of understanding and incorrect application of the rules prevented England from equalising (assuming re-taken penalty was scored), hence the reason or need to replay the match from that point.
