Maybe the collective noun for mongs could be Blatter.

As in, "look over there, there is a blatter of mongs outside the swamp"

If I may, NB, I'll incorporate that expression into my own vocabulary forthwith.

If enough people take it up, it could find its way into The Oxford English Dictionary.
