Vieira - cometh the hour?

Postby Vantage » Fri Apr 24, 2015 8:58 pm

Lads and Lasses.

I've been fortunate to meet Paddy V at the Etihad and in the flesh he is even more impressive than on the pitch, cool, calm and you can tell the guy has serious inner steel. I also recall an EDS game against Chelsea and come the final whistle he was on the pitch and I thought he was going to rip the ref apart!

Is next season the time to give him a run or is it too early for him? Whilst it looks nailed on for Gaurdiola I'm not sure I'm that keen for tikka takka and I'd love to see what Paddy would do with the team (and to Maureen)

Probably too early for him yet. Depends where we end up this season but I think the obvious plan is for him to do another year with the kids and then take over.

We can't be any more ordinary, I'd love to see some of the kids getting a sniff of the first team (not just dreadful boyata) this summer there will be some sort of exodus of some senior players and why not. If it's going to be a merry go round at least give one of our own a turn?

It's not at all nailed on for guardiola IMHO.

I'd rather Patrick than Pep. Even right now. I like the idea of Patrick learning his craft here and graduating to manage the team. Probs not next year unless the count gets his self all ballsed up again and fucks up top 4.

Which he could do the old undead cunt.

Cheers

And I'm sure it's only a matter of time before Sky drop Thierry Henry and invite you on with incisive punditry like that?

Doomie I think you're probably right if Pellers doesn't completely balls up chumps league qualification then he's keeping the seat warm for another 12 months...

Face fucking Palm.

What has he done to think he's ready? This never seems to make the discussion. How many seasons would we allow him to learn without expecting trophies?

More importantly though people I can only think of one person to ever come from youth coaching to seriously win shit and we're all turning our fucking noses up at him? Why have so many normally sensible fans lost the fucking plot? Paddy v next season would be a fucking disaster, am I the only one who sees this?

I dont think it would be a disaster, actually i think it would help us form a team identity & style, which is something that we sorely lack now, in my opinion. I wouldn't expect him to win a league right away and you're right that we don't know how many seasons he'd get to get it right.

All of that is speculation though, we don't know what's in the owners' heads, or in Paddy's for that matter.

I think he would not be a terrible choice. I'd be a little nervous, but as a person and a leader, I think he's exactly what we need. It would be a big risk for the club, but could also pay off big. Depending on what's out there, and what kind of noises we've heard from Klopp's camp ... I'd definitely consider it an option.

On what basis would it help us form an identity and a style? Is this your gut instinct based off his playing style or do you have evidence he has radically transformed our youngsters into a well oiled machine in a completely new brand of football?

His appointment would be brave an supported by me. I am pretty sure the squad would be better for it in the long term, the way Pellers takes the stick/blame/sarcastic press, would be imo be handled in a more modern way. Paddy would also be my choice over pretty much everyone bar 3. Good thread and well worth a post.

Don't own a tracksuit.

I may have taken the piss a bit last time this was raised, but answer the following.

Has pellers won us the league?

After a less stellar year are many wants my him gone?

Does that mean most want us to win trophies every year?

Are there more qualified people to give us that?

Simple really

It would take some real belief from Khaldoon et el to let Paddy take control but I'm not sure the sporting director/revolving coach thing works in the Premier Leauge BUT as you rightly say letting him in now might be too early. However I would rather see Paddy learn on the job for a season than that fat mercenary tw-t Benetez coming in for a one year pay day and then Pep strolling in. Frankly anyone (even Steve McMahon) could have made a fist of managing Barcelona and Bayern the next city manager needs to build and buy Pep has always had the best of the best on a plate with a machine around him:

Pep: "OK Lionel, when you get the ball, beat six players and kick it in the goal"
Lionel: "Si Boss"
Pep: "Xavi control the middle, break up play and feed the Lionel, he will score, but if you can't get him the ball score 25 yard wonder goal yourself"
Xavi: "Si Boss"
Pep: "Mr Sporting director i think we have an injury worry over Puyol, he has strained his perm, please bring me a selection of the best young defenders in the world from our youth team"
Youth team coach "Si Boss"

Etc etc etc

You're the one for me, Paddy.

Before Pellers came here he'd won the same amount of meaningful trophies in his managerial career as Paddy. FACT!

Vieira becoming City manager isn't going to happen soon imho . Klopp is available and Ancelotti soon will be ..........

if it were me I would get Klopp , I think his style would be a breath of fresh air and it would bring the passion back amongst the fans and get the Etihad rocking again ! Pellegrini is done , he has failed big time this season yes some of the players have put a half arsed effort into it but at the end of the day he manager carries the can end of ! We CANT have another season like this one , this summers comings and goings will be very interesting huge decisions have to made , we cannot afford to fuck up !
