I personally don't get the hatred towards Steven Gerard. In his pomp he would have played in our midfield and any midfield in England. Been a very good player and a servent to one club. Now if it was Wayne Rooney or Terry I would understand the disdain....

i feel the same way. I don't like his club, but during his best he was one of the best in the world. He's lost a step. And literally had he not prollee would have had his only PL title last season. Oh well.

I dislike him in no small way because of his acquittal in the court case where he had beat up a DJ if memory serves me right. His pals in the underworld put pressure on witnesses who then didn't give evidence. Should have got jail time and I suspect if it had been Joe Bloggs in the dock the outcome would have been different.

As a player, in his day, he was devastating and there is much to admire in his remaining loyal to the dippers when he could have had far more glory elsewhere. He is one of the worst culprits for diving though IMO and his 'Hollywood' balls mask his limited repertoire.

I for one, will not miss him

I don't mind Gerrard, it's the media wankfest over him that's unbearable and because of that I was so happy to see them lose the FA Cup semi etc and I can't wait for his flight to LA

Stevie Superinjunction can fuck right off. He always was one of those players who rubbed me the wrong way for some reason. I mean, beyond being Steven George "James Bond" Gerrard (RAWKs words, not mine) to the scallie/car stereo-stealers and the generally hypocritical public persona.

But I did respect his game until last year, when it seemed to me he was clearly past it and was slowing the dipper attack down every time he was on.

But all the while he was of course constantly fawned over by the idiot media complex. Won one of those awards rather than Yaya, I think, which was utterly ridiculous on multiple levels.
