Sign for us, for £5m (3 to repay his contract pay out and 2 as a signing on fee) and the dippers will be up shit creek.

It wont happen as they will sell him to the highest bidder, but I dont think there will be a lot of bidding for him TBH.

Liverpool and QPR would still be eligible for a fee, to be determined by tribunal for their part in developing the player. The chances are the tribunal will evaluate a fair value of his worth, so maybe 15/20m (as they wouldn't be beholden to the english player supplement of 50m), and make the buying club pay that as the development fee.

Regardless though, you're right, Liverpool will have to drop their demands unless an auction starts - which I'd be really surprised to see in all honesty

We only got £6m for Sturridge, I can see a similar fee or £10m max TBH

What I don't get, is why there is this desire to keep him if he wants to go. I can understand if he is trying to get a move to AC Milan on loan for a 10 mil transfer or something, & they would tell him he can rot in the reserves, but they will get a shedload of money for him.

There is no player at City, about whom, if he genuinely asked for a transfer, & we could get the right fee for him, any of us on here would say anything but 'get rid, right away'.

Liverpool are supposed to be this huge giant of a club, but their attitude with this is really small time. If he doesn't want them & their istree, fuck him off.

Yeah, maybe. 6 years is a long time though, and Sterling is a full international so I reckon with a bit of inflation it will bump the price well up above Sturridge, but who knows what the criteria are.

I'm just glad that all this doesn't fuck over a small club like Bury or Wycombe, I'm really not that arsed if QPR and Liverpool get bummed in the deal.

No we need homegrown players not English. We can just promote some youth players and include them in the squad and don't play them.

We haven't got enough players to do that - particularly if losing Milner's versatility.

So go into the season with just 19 senior players? Why would we give our rivals that advantage?

The attitude of that club in this situation belies just how diminished in stature it has become. 'No one is bigger than our club' = 'We can no longer hold on to our best players'.

The same Alex Song that played for West Ham this season? I think we'd be better off signing someone with at least some kind of work ethic.

Or promoting one of our kids.

Sterling? I think will be a very good player. He clearly hasn't been putting much effort in for liverpool since the biting racist left.

There is something almost uniquely hate-worthy about the dippers. It is almost like one of those cults where they just viciously attack anyone who dares to try to leave it.

I hope Sterling goes SOMEWHERE in England and just torments the dippers every time he plays them. For my part I wouldn't mind him at City. Checks a lot of necessary boxes and would probably thrive working with Aguero and Silva.

i don't want to see Alex Song rock up at City. That'd be a letdown.

Can't blame Sterling much tho tbh...without Suarez or Sturridge he's hardly had a partner to attack with. One man midget fucking army. I'd be depressed as fuck too if i were him.

cheers

I really can't see how he'd not thrive alongside Silva etc. Look at how good he was when playing alongside Suarez. Everything he can do Silva and Aguero can do between them. He'd be great and offer us a different dimension.

If they wouldn't let me go, I'd sign the contract with Liverpool then go on the piss for several years with some Jimmy Five Bellies type character & John Terry's wife etc.

Not as if I'd be missing a title challenge or career or anything.

I think Sterling's pace will help Silva too. Hitting a player with pace with a through ball is so much easier than one without it.

Surely people can see that Sterling is the leading young player in the country with immense talent for his age. Of course there will be a ducking auction.
