Ex City Vuoso scores for Mexico

Ex City forward Matias Vuoso scored a couple of goals for Mexico in their 3-3 draw against Chile. He was signed in 2002 for over 3 million and never played for the first team. I saw him play for City reserves against United reserves in March 2003 and my pics are here -

I have now completed the end of year player ratings and you can find them in the May notes here-

Matias the ghost KK Signing. 12 years later he pops up and scors a couple for his national side :-)

I like the write up KB

Two players with some experience on the City side were Matias Vuoso - above left - who was signed from Independiente in Argentina for a few million and Richard Dunne. Alas Vuoso has yet to make an appearance for the first team. He has been on the subs bench for a few games but has not been used. Now I know why! For someone who should be pushing for a striking place he was almost anonymous. It was very disappointing. I am amazed we should have paid so much for him. Above right is the familiar figure of Dunne who played OK but someone of his experience should have been pushing the others more.

and

Now, is Vuoso waving for a taxi, a number 42 bus or the ball I wonder!

I had also expected greater things from Barton who is on the edge of the senior squad.

Imo, there was some right dodgy shite going on back in those days, under KK & managers previous to that.

Players signing then not getting a game, others playing one or two games, but not getting a chance.

All the time, people like Willie McKay were doing deals for players in & out of City.

I saw Vuoso play for the reserves & he easily did enough to merit a bit of time & patience in the first team squad. Not a sniff. There were several others who signed seemingly just for a holiday.

Really really dodgy.

I forgot about that slimeball, as bad as Kia Joorwhachamacallit. I agree ted, there several puzzling things happening at City.

Not just at our place.

Sunderland, under Peter Reid, bought and sold players at a prodigious rate, as did West Ham under 'Arry. Simply bungs under the guise of "finders fees". No doubt most fans at most clubs can point their finger and say "why did we sign him, he was never given a chance" and then a year later is sold. Platt at Forest was another

Playing for Mexico? I thought he was the next big thing from Argentina when KK signed him.

We put him on the wrong plane home from Manchester and it's taken him all this time to become qualified for the country in which he landed.

My mate is a Sunderland fan and he says there's an episode of Premier Passions, where Reid is trying to sign Ronan Harazi and Reid is desperate for the deal to go through, despite the fact that Harazi's knee is full of metal - Kevin Ball is heard to.comment about signing Robocop - funny but makes you wonder.

If I remember rightly KK had shares in one of the agencies, so certain signings benefitted the agency & him as shareholder. Fergie was similar & obviously his son.

mourinho's relationship with jorge mendes has played no part whatsoever in the falcao deal.
