Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

The England situation was blown way out of proportion. He didn't accept a bribe. He didn't explain how to do anything illegally. He mainly discussed after dinner speaking which is pretty common in football circles. He was foolish to put himself in that position whilst England manager, but the headlines were worse than the actual content of his discussion. A fine example of a newspaper creating extra drama to generate publicity.

There have been lots of stories over Sam Allardyce for years being involved in dodgy deals, and there may be truth to them. But when he was caught on camera recently the media hype greatly exaggerated what happened.

For Palace though, they've got a solid manager who will most likely keep them up.

The reason the FA sacked him did seem a little weak. Makes you wonder what else might be in his closet

Tut tut! To suggest in any way that Sam's probity is beneath the level required by FA rules, is somehow tainted by corruption, and is anything other than an honest professional are highly scurrilous. I'm confident that such allegations would be vigorously contested and don;t bear repeating.

My mistake.

On a side note, on the CPFC forum, they have an 11 page thread titled "Welcome Sam Allardyce" and a 42 page thread titled "Fuck off Allardyce".

Seems they're happy with the appointment.

Their Hughes has arrived!

Was there a thread before he was appointed which was "by how points will we be relegated"? and is there now one "we are going to stay up"?

Palace, like Sunderland last season, look doomed. They have a fighting chance now

Fair play to them. On all counts this guy should be an unwelcome guest at any club (unless it's a pie-eating society).
