Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

What would your advice to Pellegrini be for the coming season?
1. Let Fernandinho rest once in a while. Immense when he's on form, hit and miss when he's tired. The amount of ground he's supposed to cover without rest has been ridiculous and will continue to be if he's not rotated properly. He's not getting younger.
2. Give some of the academy products a chance in the league cup and in the early rounds of the FA-cup. I know you like to play senior players to show that you take the competition serious but it didn't really work out last season did it?
3. You don't talk about fight club.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"
"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

When we need to battle out, don't pick The French Duke.

Don't play the two Ferns together. It just blunts our attack without making us one iota more secure at the back.

Sort out the corners/free kicks in attack and defence!
(Hopefully if we get KDB a quality delivery will help in attack?)

Pick your players to fit the system, not the other way around.
Also, if in doubt give it to Dave.

When something, like a formation, is not working, don't keep at it week after week. That's insanity.
When something is working, don't change it. That's also insanity.
When a player is not performing at the required standard, do not be afraid to replace/rest them, for as long as it takes.

Ship Dzeko to the other side of the world.
"Like all bullies, they've just found out that there is a much bigger guy in town, someone who is richer and more powerful than their worst nightmare. but we play a "system" and not really a "formation." A formation implies a strictness of structure which is a lot less fluid than our players are allowed. Splitting hairs, but i think we've drilled this to death when we're struggling.
It's the old argument 5 vs 4 in midfield, and 2 strikers or 1 or a front 3, etc....I don't see those are legit arguments around how we really actually play tho. And i think players like Sterling and hopefully KDB will prove my point, where some like Nasri, Yaya, and Navas made the Count look clueless at times last season due to either effort, skillset or application.
cheers

Have a couple of these promising young guns on the bench EVERY game. If we are ahead by three goals by seventy minutes give one of them half hour time. They'll only be brought in by getting game time.
Also please do feel free to sub Yaya if he's lagging / fucked or heads not in it.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

If we're getting pummelled don't wait either a) twenty five minutes or b) until the opposition score before you change things. See the game at Anfield for reference.
Balotelli......that's a brilliant finish.

I agree entirely. Just those minutes will bring them on enormously.

4-3-1-2 please dear Ingeniero or every defensive player you'll put in the ground will fail, definitively!
From Torino, Italia to Manchester, Lancashire this City is always our City!

A tad pedantic, but I agree, "system" would be the appropriate term.
I think we are in sync re. the point that I made about player performances though.
It's frustrating to watch some players not performing at the level that we know they have, and admire - it ideally should not make the Count look clueless, but I suppose it is what it is. Let's hope for better, especially with their places possibly coming under threat.

So many little things.
1: corners. Perhaps practice getting the ball past the first man
2: crossing. See above
3: crossing. Make the forwards attack the near post and not just hang around the middle of the goal or the penalty spot.
4: formation. Don't play the two ferns together
5: formation. The 4-6-0 worked a treat last year through necessity. Font be afraid to mix it up a little last year. Imagine Kun, Silva, Yaya, Sterling and Bony inter swapping positions throughout the game? The opposition wouldn't have a clue who or how to mark us and we will score bucket loads
6:EDS. Have at least one lad on bench for every game and if we are winning comfortably, bring them on so they can savour 15 minutes or so. There is no substitute for experience.
7: squad. Don't be afraid to rest/drop the big names.
8: stay classy
