Arsenal thought they had the perfect business model.
Wenger transformed into an accountant. Finish top 4, get the CL money, invest enough to stay in the top 4, generate profit for stakeholders, no need to win anything.
But they were not threading water. They were being overtaken by clubs with footballing ambitions. Namely us and Chelsea. That pushed them out of the top 4 and the downward spiral gathered momentum. In fairness, accelerated when Wenger left.

Long way back for them now.

A great summation of the American ownership model - milk the club for the cash. Let's hope the other 2 "big" yank owned clubs go the same way......

All for this but as i put in the Europa thread, with fans back in stadiums next season, Ole won't get too much longer. A bad chumps league group draw and he is under the cosh.I was in my local before the game last night and he still has the armchair vote but that won't last while we sweep everything up

Nice one i like it. Some of the boys in the boozer were showing clips of poles on the rampage before the game last night don't know if similar afterwards.
Doubt the red shite will be pro-active in their pursuit of a new manager, as long as Ole keeps the lid on the fans, he will be golden but be fun to see the reaction on sunday when we come back. Never knew Chelsea were so popular in Salford until last night

Awww bless. Two of the Autistic lads I support at work have not spoken to me all day at work. One of them is adamant it is MY fault that they lost and told me I shouldn't be working there anymore. I've had to really keep quiet around them today about it.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?

I work with a lot of mental health in students. Autistic types need it spelled out clearly without any irony or humour really.

Awh little Fernandes and little Rashford bless them. Nice to know they’re keeping busy outside football.

The Guardian. Rags eye moves for Sancho, Rice, Kane and Torres. :) :) :)
That must be approx £300M. Nothing about them ruining football though.

Sorry but I disagree.
This is a laughing thread and Pep's selection and strategy were not a joke or in any way humorous.

Pep's team sheet was a suicide note and his tactics a tragedy.
Sorry

A man owns a parrot that can't stop swearing.
So he says to him, 'If you don't stop swearing, I'll put you in the fridge.'
The parrot keeps on swearing. So he puts it in the fridge.
Five minutes later, he takes the parrot out of the fridge, and says to it, 'Are you going to stop swearing?'
'Yes,' says the parrot. 'But what did that chicken do?'

I’m 70 today, that’s got to be a joke, defied medical science by living this long, not helped by being a City fan either
