That's one thing I hate over here. 'Derby' has become synonymous with 'big game between clubs who have some beef'. So you'll see the Chelsea v. Liverpool 'derby' advertised on TV. I'm not sure if they use the word for games between clubs from different countries (like Real v. Bayern), though.
