That 2-0 victory against Derby, our last game of the season, was an exhibition of pure football by us.
Derby were lucky it was only two goals against them, as our dominance was so complete and, ironically, it was Marsh, playing theoretically at centre-forward, who ran the show and orchestrated our victory.
Perhaps the pressure was off us but, that summer, I couldn't wait for the next season to start because we looked so good in that last game; it seemed a glorious portent of the future.
Unfortunately, the 1972/73 season didn't work out quite as it should have..........
