Ref was very good last night , major decisions took above him , if he has any dignity he will feel fucked over himself .
Not really here

I'm still confused as to why the VAR called the handball but then showed the ref footage that wasn't conclusive?

BT showed 2 andles where it was clear and from that the majority view was that it hit his arm before going onto his hip. As the ref was asked to review it seemed obvious that it would be disallowed but how could he with that footage.

Here is something for you to understand how this system works.

In 93, in Kosice, at that time Cehoslovakia, Romania lost 5-2 vs the local team. In that game, the famous Kim Milton Nielsen, the Danish ref, was bribed by people close to the romanian federation, better well said, famous agent families at that time. to help us. As I said, we lost 5-2, but Cehoslovakia had 2 players sent off. The decisions were incredible in our favour. Later on, Nielsen did not received the money he was promised because we lost.
This stuff was proven a few years ago, but the incident prescribed itself and he couldn't be judged.

Now, the story is that Nielsen went bonkers and promised he will get his payback. And he did. Romania vs Germany, Euro 2000, incredible penalty not give for us. Then 2001, WC playoff, Romania - Slovenia. We lost the game in Ljubiana where he crucified us. His decisions where similar to Foy/Atkinson/Elleray combined. That solo game killed a generation and was the first brick of the downfall of my national team.

Remember, Nielsen was considered the very best ref in Europe in his time alonside Collina.

Hopefully this thread won't be needed and we can all say how good the officials were tonight.

Sincerely hope you are right but appointing Mike Dean is asking for trouble. A scouser who hasn't been trusted with a Liverpool match for several seasons and had cup final taken off him a few years back because Liverpool qualified.

Also surprising as he reffed the defeat at Leicester - and sent Delph off (though can't really blame him for that)

Crucial who we get at Brighton.

Atkinson or Marriner, my 2 cents. One last try to stop us.

yup, we're lucky they didn't have more touches in our box because dean would have given them a penalty guaranteed. the non-call of an obvious foul on Jesus then booking him from protesting sums it up for me

The foul on Sterling , when he was sandwiched and bumped to the floor. This cheating ref knew it was a penalty.

Definite pen. He wasn't just sandwiched, he was kicked on the foot as well.

Michael Oliver for Brighton. Not my favourite but could be worse. Atkinson for bindippers.

He was completely barged over by Chilwell. 100% penalty

I honestly don't think Chilwell did anything wrong there but the other fella tripped him. I'll try search out a replay.
