Officials are playing more and more of a part in the outcome of the premier league every season.

You never have to wait long for the next one, as it is at least once a week at this stage.

Let's look at the latest one....
Chelsea v Swansea- at 1-1 Swansea denied a clear penalty with a clear handball in the box.

At 2-1 I think it's safe to say the outcome might have been very different.

Whether you're on the side of it being corruption, bias or incompetence, it's destroying the game.

If it continues to worsen, we'll havr fake seasons

What, like last season where due to the lack of competition from the Rags, Dippers and Chavs, Leicester pushed their way to the top with plenty of help from the officials. And then, at the start of this season, those exact tactics were clamped down on from the same officials? Diving not given as penalties, holding and pulling in the box given against them, and so much more?

It was a nice to see from many neutrals but if the 3 who seriously underperformed were anywhere near then you can bet your bottom dollar that Leicester wouldn't have got those calls.

The rules of football are far too open to interpretation. There's probably an average of a contentious decision every game rather than once a week.

As regards that incident you cite, Chelsea were extremely lucky to not give away a penalty for either handball or obstruction. Azpilicueta had his arm out to prevent the Swansea player going past him. If the ball hadn't have hit his arm the ref would have had a decision to make about obstruction. As it was, Azpilicueta had managed to get his arm very close to the ball in a 'natural' position that somehow also blocked a cross. I'd have given a penalty there but I'm not sure the rules cover intent.

I agree about video replay decisions but still the rules are open to interpretation and, yes, the officials decisions are shaping seasons but hasn't it been that way for a long time?

Video replay decisions work very well in Rugby Union, at least for the tries, because the rules are very clear: no part of the body out of play, pressure on the ball, no part of an opponent's body on the ball.

But when it comes to football's handball rules then the official(s) have to consider hand-to-ball or ball-to-hand, proximity and natural arm position. Complex decisions have to be made for off-side also: moment of release, scoring part of the body and interferring with the goalie. Similarly for foul tackles, hands to faces, stamping, elbowing, and so on.

True but not everything requires interpretation.
Thinking of Rojo's 2 two footed lunges, the Rags 'offside' goals, the penalties not given, (actually all of Sky's top 4 pets), etc...
If the authorities do not clean it up, people will walk.

What is the point watching a game if it is the ref (following instructions) who decides who will win a match?

A 17 goal swing in their favour?

Thank fuck it evens itself out over the course of the season.

The first trophy of the season has been decided by....
The officials.

Who'd have thought it?

And here you have it confirmed for our latest edition - Southampton should have have had one goal more and United should have had a man sent off.

What exactly are we following at this stage? A weekly panto, that's what.

We are following a corrupt setup.
The mistake that the authorities are making is that they think people will keep watching.
In there arrogance they are eating themselves from the inside out and ignoring the growing unrest among most fans.
Football is nothing without the fans. The fans will eventually vote with their feet.
Football as we know it at the top level will die.

I really hope the authorities kop on before it is to late.

They're mounting up - we will need a season and a half of nothing but 'luck' to even all this out.
