Pellegrini Under Pressure Already.

Postby zabbadabbado » Sat Sep 26, 2015 2:45 pm

I can handle defeats, but the fact is under Pellegrini, we go in these season defining cycles, where a defeat, results in a number of defeats in quick succession, capitulation for a few games, before our Ship is steadied, Usually when we have all our best players available again. He can manage our best starting 11.But appears clueless managing the rest of the squad. It is like he has no idea, and reverts to trying to fit square pegs, in round holes, and actually makes things much worse, as seen today.

I think the pressure is already on Pellegrini. The losing cycle starting in September, instead of December, means our season can be salvaged more quickly. Lose in Germany next week. then it will be 4 defeats in 5 games.2 in quick succession in the Champions League, making qualifying very difficult.I think our owners at a minimum, given their vast financial outlay ,expect us to at least make the last 16 this season.

With Klopp, and Ancelloti, sounding out potential employers, Pellegrini will be under pressure to put things right very quickly. Failure to do this, will see the Axe fall much more quickly than we actually realise.

Just my opinion.

I wrote effectively the same thing in the Spurs match thread, if we don't win the next game, and I want him to succeed, and like him generally. Yet, I agree, the patience is not going to be the same as last season with what is available out there and where the expectations are for this, and players brought in.

Win in Germany and the pressure is off, unless he manages to totally screw up in October where we have all but one game at home.

There are extenuating circumstances, losing so many of our players, at inopportune times, which has an affect in our play. Today shown what injuries can do and the loss of Joe Hart, and Yaya mid-game, compounded the problem.

Managers are always under pressure but I think if the injuries come good, by the end of next month, the pressure won't be so great.

It's still early, the season has only just begun.

Pellegrini is a nice bloke, and I hope he arrests our slide. But one is already getting a real sense of deja vu this early in the season.

I'm not sure we have bought that well in MPs era. Maybe he doesn't pick the people we buy. I do think his judgement can be questioned at times. It's very likely he was involved in the signing of Willy. He was really useless whenever I saw him play in Spain. Just as bad as Grobbelaar, and that's saying something. Mangala was not convincing at all in Portugal either.
I do think he deserves some slack though. Today was our 5th game in 14 days and half the squad is missing.

I agree, and I hope this is how it pans out.

However I think there is much more emphasis being put on us evolving in the Champions League this season, than last, and making the last16. I would not be surprised in the least, if we lost in Germany next week and Pellegrini was sacked so early in the season for an upgrade to Ancelloti, or Klopp if one was available. With Liverpool circling for an upgrade. Our owners have different expectations to us fans, We would all fuck the Champions League today For Premiership success. But our owners prefer the glamour and exposure of rubbing shoulders with Europe elite.

He struggles when we play two games in the week (leaving aside all the injuries). This will be the bumpiest part of the season.

CL should be what we are all aiming for as this is where we will make our name with regard to being in the European elite. We hate it because of how we feel cheated by them and their unfair rules when it comes to the draws or FFP but it is something we have to live with until the time comes that it's so obvious the media actually start to mention it.

I can't see us going for either of the 2 you mention, so soon, we'll give Pellers the opportunity to show what he can do.

It's a bit early to be stating he's under pressure only the media could try and spin that one.

We've played some fantastic stuff this season. We had a bad 2nd half today and the shite hit the fan.The last couple of results have come as a bit of a shock but this happens when key players are missing.

yes really. domestic stuff is one thing but the brass and the owner want European success. if we lose our first 2 CL games in this group its going to be very hard to progress. notice, however, that i didn't say that he should be sacked or that he will be.

Silva being out and our central defence being new as in playing together in the prem, plus willy being atrocious has brought about this capitulation.
Weds is a huge game lose that and we're looking down the barrel again.
I expect kompany Hart and silva all to be in the team.
No panic button for me yet but come Thurs it'll be itchy finger time!!!

Since Kompany got injured we have conceded 6 in the prem after 5 shut outs. It's imperative that we get him back and Silva ASAP...

No but I did notice you just couldn't help yourself and had to put it out there in a round about way.

The opportunity just couldn't pass could it ? You're fooling no one.

Pretty sure the extension was designed to prevent the pressure building. Not sure how we can be so hot or cold.

Essentially we've had a shit 60 to 75 mins of football this season.

Last week we just couldn't score, it was one of those frustrating days where they defended for their lives. This week, we had key injuries and didn't look good 2nd half after they got back into it with a ridiculous offside call.

We got sucker punched and conceded 2 goals in last 20 to last year's finalists in champions league. If sterling had taken his 2 chances we'd have been fine.

It all fine lines and slim margins. We're that team that everybody wants to beat now. I've watched spurs 3 times this season and they never looked like they had today's performance in them, but they were up for it like it was a cup final.

I'll see how next couple of games go before pulling the pin on the grenade.
